Hillbillys 62 Comet

Post by Hillbilly Comet Man »

Just wanted to show some updated pics, really having alot of fun putting about 350 miles a week on it.Getting around 17 mpg so far.Still need to pull the windshield and back glass and install the headliner and new seals.Right now I have the fatmat interior!
Image
Still running the Black K93 Primer, the halibrand copy wheels,I added 63 mercury Monterey tail lenses to spice things up a little.I am working on installing sound this week, all on a budget,KDC-138 kENWOOD unit,($65).Blaupunkt GTx652 6.5" and GTx693 6x9s.($100)Blaupunkt GTw1200 12"sub ($33)being run off my old Punch 100.2 run mono.
Image
This is my current setup under the hood.I recently added an aluminum 2 core radiator and a different Air cleaner that goes better with the style of the car.I also swapped on a set of Aluminum smooth Valve covers.
Image
The engine is 308ci,268 comp cam,Comp cam roller rockers, BG 575 Speed demon, pro products polished dual plane intake,PP balancer,Modified Hedman 88400 headers.Shifted by a 1963 Borg Warner T-10 with Hurst shifter and linkage.8" Ford rear with 3.00 trac loc,Estimated top speed 138 mph @ 5500 RPMS.

As for the interior,Remember its on a small budget also.Dood panels are masonite covered in Black $12 a roll carpet. The current bucket seats were bought off Ebay for $100 58 Tbird units,However I do have the correct 62 Comet buckets to be recovered and installed at a later date.I also added the deluxe front and rear armrests.rear package tray is also covered in the black carpet. The door handles are chromed aluminum street rod handles I picked up for $75.

Really enjoy looking at your pics.
6 figure cars are cool but a guy on a
budget with his own effort gets my
vote every time!!
I still think a LIME GREEN & WHITE
INTERIOR is the ticket!! and leave the outside be.
Shot any video lately, FROM THE FENCE POST!!? LOL
Fred
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

I was at show on Mothers Day in Alexandria and there was a guy there with a '63 hardtop, black,SBF. You just dont see these anymore. My '65 and his were the only Comets there. There was AFX style 64-65 Falcon with a 427, which I saw last year.

Bikes,
This may be a long shot but try CTC Auto Ranch, Inc., 3077 Memory Ln., Denton, TX 76207 (800) 482-6199 or (940) 482-3007. They have a pretty good website: ctcautoranch.com.
Several years ago I lived in that area and went over there several times. They were great guys and very helpful but, as I remember, they did not respond to e-mails very well.
I hope this may help in your search.
