Thanks for the info JH!
Here's a pic of a GT350. Not sure if they are originals or repops. They are kinda angled.

My 302- stock C5 289 block .040 over.
'70 Boss 302 forged steel cross-drilled crank :D
Roys old H-beam 302 rods and main girdle (thanks buddy!)
Forged 10:1 pistons.
Stock heads ported polished with big stainless valves.(Not sure size  )
Isky .540 lift/290 duration solid cam.
Roys old Victor Jr. intake.
Mallory dual point distributer tuned to Boss 302 specs.
Canton road race oil pan with windage tray.
I'm gonna top it with a rebuilt Holley 650 DP.

As strange as it sounds I never expressed any power needs to my builder. I just told him I need it to live at high RPMs.
I don't know what it'll put out as far as HP.

Hey joe, sounds like a real spinner!
I ran stock 289 rods and crank in my circle tracker at 6700 + for several seasons
Without a problem, yours should be WAY STRONGER than mine.
Hope to get to see the car this winter when we are down there on holiday.

I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

Alright Fred sounds like a plan! Your always welcome to stop by...no chopping things up this time!

Yes I'm just hoping for a good reliable engine so I can go in circles at Willow Springs and learn how to drive the darn thing!

Check out some of RCMike's (search Mike Anderson)youtube vids of laps in his Datsun.
He has posted everywhere from the Snake to button and willow, even laps at fontana.
I dont know where it is but somewhere there is a vid of me driving his little red rocket
on the snake, checked off one on the bucket list that day!
You will have a great time going left and right, next to circle trackin road racin is my fav!
See you around the end of Jan,
Fred

Joe - I'd use a known good carb for your initial start-up! Shucks...grab the Autolite off of the Comet; it'll be fine to break the cam in. I've had to switch-a-roo vs. risking crankin' to much. And dump a bit of gas down whatever carb if it's sat a bit. You wanna get that beast started and over 2K RPM! :D :D
'cause Johno says you gotta have a sig pic! :)

This is some damn good advice Rocketman!
& Joe if you think changing a carb a couple times is a lot of trouble think about how aggravating changing a cam ,lifters ,bearings & gaskets again!

Almost there bubba!
Just need to wrap up the shock tower plates. Clean up the floors and add the bottom supports that the fool before me cut out and threw away, mini tubs and cage. That's it!
