65 Futura in East TN . . .
Re: 65 Futura in East TN . . .
Finally, a start to the interior work. My buddy cut out the bezel with 0.250" aluminum composite to check gage location, etc. That let him get everything programmed into his CNC router for the final piece; either 0.125 aluminum or polished stainless. I'll mock it all up, stare at it a bit, decide if we want to tweak it a bit, and go forward from there. Finishing the wife's fire pit / swing project this week, so maybe ill have real results soon! Thanks for looking -

Thanks, Rocket. I'm glad to finally be inching along at a snail's pace! Still going to make a few tweaks, but i wrapped up another of the wife's projects today, so i got a little fit up done. With the differing sizes of the trim rings on the autometers, we're going to increase the margin around the speedo and tach a little, but happy overall. Ready to get cutting! Thanks for looking -

Thanks fellas. After fitting it up I decided on a few minor tweaks, but that's whay the test piece was for anyway. Dropped the aluminum off with my guy yesterday, so maybe we'll get it finished up here soon.

Slight revision, but getting closer. Again, this is 1/8" aluminum composite, white skinned with black composite inner layer. Expanded the margin around the speedometer and tachometer 1/8" to keep an even margin around all 6 gages, and then added a line milled around the circumference for looks I guess. It won't be as visible on the final aluminum piece, but it'll look more finished, especially the passenger side. Progress is progress, thanks for looking -

Thanks again fellas. After fighting several issues the last few months it final feels like I'm getting a small amount of momentum again. After coming up short on paint last year, we're gonna try again to get it done this year. So, the tentative plan is to finish paint by the summer, attack wiring, plumbing, glass, etc by the end of summer, then build the engine in the fall and wrap this project up. We'll see. . . . .

A little more progress. Mounted mockup panels for the gages and the other blank panel, then mudded up the dash for sanding tomorrow, then finished final blocking on the trunk lid. Now the body, hood, trunk lid and one door are ready for paint. About time we got some good weather!

That’s awesome Dan! What’s holding the glovebox panel on? I can’t tell & when I blow it up it’s too blurry to see.
