Well ran we 14.3 at 95. Kinda of odd that ran a 14.6 at 95 while I missed 2nd gear the other day. Didn't have any issues. Started to shim the secondaries with zip ties and gained. Definitely switching to mechanical secondaries and getting a carb spacer. Kinda let down. I will get though.

What gear are you finishing in? What RPM?

That would be an issue, also sounds like you might need some more gear. If you're going for good times you'll want to be crossing the lights near your power band (around 4500-5500 peak with that combo on the 302 I believe).

If you have a 373 gear it's gotta be turning more than 3 grand at the end, doesn't it? :?

Calculator online has him at around 4300 with a 27" tire and a 1.00:1 trans ratio (4th for mustang t-5)/3.73 rear at 93 mph.

That would mean he should be so-so for gearing and point more towards traction and possibly engine tuning.

Edit: Would also be worth noting that a 93-95 mph trap is about what a low 14 second car will do. If you want 13s you'd need to be around 105ish.

Well I will point out my car isn't getting out of the hole like a normal car my eighth mile time is pretty poor. I will also point out I don't have a tach and completely guessing. Also I have a 24 in tire.

You should be even higher up the RPM range then, so that would mean your gearing is fine more than likely and it's contributed more towards the traction (tires, suspension, etc.). Would look into some better tires, caltracs, then maybe tuning some more power out of the 302.

If anything, it could be worse. My friends that are into hondas spend thousands of dollars to get a 14 second timeslip.

Thanks for the input guys. The calculator might be slightly skewed by my more eighth time I stated earlier. Probably higher rpm than I think.

Just put a holley 800 marine carb on to open it up. It made a big difference. It pretty confident that will get me into the 13s. Thanks for all the help on meeting my goals.

Well went back to to the drag strip tonight with 800 and carb spacer....14.3 again. Lol it made the power of the motor feel different but ran the exact same time. It's running lean now so I am going to change some jets and fatten it up and see what happens. I am going to get this elusive 13 et. :)
