It should. It's probably a 5.0 which should be a roller cam. Should need 50 oz imbalance flexplate or flyweel and dampener. You will need a front sump and pan to fit an early comet/falcon. Headers will be your hardest thing to fit because of clearance issues. But once fitted you will love it.
I run a 5.0 gt40 crate motor with SROD trans and 3.0 ls rearend. Ps and Pb and ac. Stock clutch no issues.

I agree with Ron, if I remember correctly you want shorty headers or just plain manifolds, I believe there are some factory cast iron headers out there a lot of guys were using in the early body cars but I am not a V8 guy so I can't really rememberComechero65 wrote:Headers will be your hardest thing to fit because of clearance issues.
Early Comets (63 back) have the smallest engine compartments of all Comets.

If you're only using the block that engine will work fine. Only thing you'll need to do is plug the oil dipstick hole in the side of the block, because it won't work with a front sump pan that you'll require. And use the proper flywheel and harmonic balancer.
