6 cylinder to v8 conversion

Post by RallyAlex »

Once again, I am turning to you experts here. I have a '63 s22 convertible with a 6 cylinder 2 speed automatic. I put a down payment today on a Cobra 302 with WAY too much horsepower (430 or so). I am not interested in making this a fast car, I just wanted a v8 in it. He included a radiator, engine mounts, c4 three speed trans, stainless exhaust, etc. So, I really could not turn this down.

I have heard from several of you that I also need to change the front springs and probably put in a larger rear end. My question is can I keep the 13" 4 bolt rims? Or, do those need to go as well?

Is this a doable swap or is the engine too much for this little Comet?

Thanks!
