fuel mileage
fuel mileage
any idea of what kind of fuel mileage you could expect from a 65 2dr hardtop with a 289 2bbl, c4, 2:80 rear and maybe an upgrade to a very mild rv cam and small 4bbl carb? this is, technically, a performance question lol.

Re: fuel mileage
When you could buy gasoline, not this crap we have now,you could get 20+.I think now you will see around 13-15mpg.In 1967 I got 23.9 on a trip with my 65 Comet,289,2bbl,3 speed,2.80 rear gear. This crap they sell us now does not even smell like gas,let alone burn like gasoline!!! ROY.

Re: fuel mileage
i'm seriously thinking of a plain, everyday driver. i may have to do some adjusting on the seat bracket location. i'm 6'3" and about 325 lbs and my belly is a little close to the wheel
Re: fuel mileage
With a T-5, same gears, 289 2bbl I was getting a consistent 16 back in the summer.

Re: fuel mileage
what did the t5 come out of, bell housing, clutch assy, starter and flywheel? i'm not opposed to a toploader if i can find one
Re: fuel mileage
its a late model mustang swap. flywheel is the only "special" part. 28 oz balance with metric pressure plate bolt pattern. the shifter also is a lil more rearward than stock. puriest swap tailshafts from a s-10 but you would probaly like it further back.
