My 347 with a Victor JR. ran 10.60s-10.70s all day long, anywhere!! My Torquer on a 289 picked up 3/10ths over my F4B before tuning!! ROY.

Re: Fun Thread - Guess That Intake!
My two cents - I am a HUGE fan of small runner/ plenum single-plane intakes on stock to fairly warm small displacement engines (ergo 289/ 302's!). I've always had better results vs. a dual plane! My all-time favorite is the Weiand X-Celerator. We didn't have a lot of dough when I was a kid but I usually managed to roust up a used X-Celerator for whatever we were working on. ALWAYS ran better than the dual-plane intakes. The "no low-end" is BS also! What few old dyno test comparisons still around from back when prove it out!
I see folks putting big runner dual-planes like the Stealth and RPM, etc. on stock/ mild 302's and it kills throttle response! I tried a Stealth on a 9:1 302 with a small cam...lasted less than a month. Like putting 205 heads on...too much is too much! 289/ 302's are small motors!
On a 351 or larger, probably a bit different. I think the best place for 180* dual-plane intakes is on street cars with big 'ole cams. Based on how they work, I think it helps tame them down a bit! That said, I think all the ranges are covered by one single-plane or another! In order: X-Celerator, Offy Port-O-Sonic, Vic Jr., Victor/ Parker FunnelWeb!

Re: Fun Thread - Guess That Intake!
I was running the Weind X celerator and ordered the new Victor Jr. before it ever hit the Summit warehouse. I had the first one around my neck of the woods. It made zero difference in my ET. It was in effect, a waste of money. I had a good intake and didn't know it.

I have a vic JR on my 347 and it runs great (for 150 miles until we developed a noise in the motor but that's another story), it has no low end bog and pulls like a freight train!!! I'm super happy with the vic JR

Yeah the motor has to come back out, I think it's a rod bearing. I was at the machine shop when we heard it and cut the filter open to find metal that I'm sure is bearing material. Who said building car was easy rightRocket989 wrote:Ant - "NOISE"?!? Sounds ominous…hope not!
