sbf

Post by captian_napalm »

I am looking to put a 289, or a 302 into my 62 comet. What I want to know is how much modification needs to be done to the front end, and will a 302 fit?

yes a 302 will fit. you'll need v8 motor mounts & frame mounts. Most people upgrade to 65 v8 steering & an 8 in rear when moving up to a v8. the 65 steering is much improved & cheaper to replace. some parts may not be available for 62 steering. you'll need 65 spindles too but you are then set up for a disc brake upgrade. these is the cheapest ,most complete kits & you can get spindles in a kit too;

I read something somewhere that the 65 spindles had a tendency to break?

I'd like to see it, first I've heard of it. If you're worried about that, the ones in the csrp kit are beefier I think ,,than reg 65 spindles, they're like a late 60's mustangs.

You will also have to consider oil pan, the engine crossmember, radiator, and the most awful part..headers and trans crossmember depending on your combo.
