I'm moving along with my 1962 Comet Custom 4-Door restoration, and I've come to a bit of a hiccup. All 4 of my door panels are warped and two of them are slightly damaged. After searching the internet for days, I've come to the conclusion that no one makes repop'd 62 door panels. I've been looking at Falcon Enterprises and MAC's, and I've found their 1963 Falcon door panels with the solid color board and the chrome Mylar inlay. Falcon Enterprises states the following:
"These door panels will also fit all models of the Mercury Comet. That is, they will physically fit onto the respective metal door, however, the design of the embossed vinyl pattern will differ from that originally found in the Mercury Comet."
This write up only mentions the models of the Comet, and not the year of the comet. I called the company and was told that it is sized to fit the 62 Comet door frame.
I've seen a lot of pictures of supposed 1962 Comets that have these Falcon door panels.
Question #1 - Will the 1963 Falcon 4-door panels actually fit a 1962 4-door Comet.
Question #2 - Are the panels on Falcon's site and Mac's site from the same manufacturer.
Question #3 - Why are Mac's panels around 100$ cheaper per pair???
Thanks for any help you can give me!
