I've searched through a few threads on this subject, so apologies in advance for any repeat.

Looking for a good wheel/tire size combination for the 63 hardtop S22. Factory 5 lug. Would prefer to avoid any major modification or cutting, but interested in going with a larger diameter (15 or 16) and as wide as I can squeeze into the factory wheel wells.

I've seen lots of comments about what will fit and what won't but with little to no evidence or confirmation. Most recently read that 16x7's with a 4.5" backspace will fit but skeptical.

Does anyone have any specific experience? Also would like to see some pics to get an idea of how the car sits as well if you don't mind sharing.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

15X6 Styled Steel Rims with BFG 205/60/R15's are the identical circumference as the original 13" tires AND fit with NO rubbing.

There ya go!

I'm now running 14 x 6 Cougar Repro Wheels with Cooper 195/70R14 tires on my '63 S-22. The Cougar wheels have 4 inch backspace. Everything fits inside the wheel wells very nicely. I was running 14 x 6 Torque Thrusts with 205/70R14s. I believe they had 3 3/8" offset. The rear tires rubbed on the fender lips. Pics with both sets of tires/wheels:
