So I want to replace the two older red heater hoses and replace them with new black hoses. I have the 170 engine.
I couldn't find anything in the online manuals unless I'm looking in the wrong spot.
I am trying to avoid having antifreeze leak out onto my carpet inside.
What would be the proper order to do this?
Does the whole radiator need to be drained?
Does the heater core need to be removed?
Thanks for your help,
Doug

Re: Heat hose help
Hey, Doug!
Wouldn't sweat it unless hoses were leaking.
Drain radiator, disconnect blower motor, vent collar & control cables, pull heater box, unclamp hoses and replace.
Reinstall everything and refill radiator.

Re: Heat hose help
I was hoping it was something easy. Maybe I will just paint the hoses black. Lol.
I’m just trying to make the engine compartment look better. Not a fan of the red hoses.

Re: Heat hose help
If your clamps are accessible from under the hood, it is easy.
Mine aren't. Check yours.

No such luck, mine are inside too. Not big deal as it was just an aesthetics reason why I wanted to replace them.
I will just hang on to the hoses for later.
