Rocket's Comet Build
Re: Rocket's Comet Build
Head em up & move em out! we have more ponies for that corral! & the brother gets there at beer thirty, I love his timing! he's pretty sharp!
Re: Rocket's Comet Build
Haha x2! I tried to call him but too late...and yeah, he walked in beer in fist “let’s yank that thing out!”... Timing indeed!

I'm making progress but it's the little insignificant stuff that's hard to take pics of!Rocket989 wrote:Joe - No doubt...I sure don’t have any place to stack engines!! What’s shaking with the Falcon??
Finally got the bottom and trunk painted. Waiting on some parts to get the leaf springs and rear end in soon.
Trying to get her rolling so's I can install the drivetrain and load the body as needed for the roll cage install.

Man, you do more than change the oil, there’s ALWAYS a LOT of that kinda stuff!!! Glad to hear she progresses!!comethead wrote:

New stuff!
Got some stuff!! Some I need get running again, some will go on later (with the black interior pieces), and some will make my neighbors like me...less...! See if you can guess which!
New seat covers (don't match the planned rear seat too bad!)...I had a wee "accident" cutting the hole for the T5 shifter box...
4-pointers to replace the falling apart lap belts:
Mirrors so I can see! I tossed the SCCA mirror in the basement when I fixed the front seat mounting to make room for the rear...thing was like a couple inches from my nose! That & I'll never figure out why Fooooooord EVER thought a single, driver side mirror was OK....How the heck are you supposed to back up a vehicle with one f'ing side mirror?!?
The to-be exhaust:
Got the Fox 'Stang yoke onto the Comet driveshaft:
Time to get busy!!

Everbody likes new stuff!
Have you planned an install day for the motor?

Re: Rocket's Comet Build
Uh-uh...left to my own devices it’d be done already! Sometime in the next couple weeks...then I gotta get everything back together, figure out the hydraulic clutch, and weld up exhaust. Goal is too get it cranked-up before it gets cold-cold!!
Re: Rocket's Comet Build
Gotta love all the new parts.
Cmon man your running out of excuses!

Re: Rocket's Comet Build
‘’Tis in...
Though typically not without BS. I was gonna do it myself with a hand from the wife (she’s the best!) but it’s a good thing the older brother dropped by unannounced.
Having to put the picker from the side made it a bigger PITA. Boom’s not really long enough so getting it plunked was a PITA. And I dropped it!! Never done that...still dunno...thankfully the bro and Comet/ motor weren’t hurt. I had to have cranked the release too quick. The oil pan hit a frame mount and bottom of rad support. Got lucky with a couple scratches...
And I couldn’t get the Doug Thorley headers in...gave it a good effort. Got pass side in but no go on driver side...FFS! Finally lost patience and grabbed a set of Hedman 88400’s from a local speed shop. Stripped ‘em and painted tonight. They fit but I can see the PITA turns the pipes will have to make. It’ll get done!!

Yes the color is interesting. Where did that Buick (?) engine color come from?

Stacey - story’s in the thread, but it’s a “Detroit Diesel Green”! Though I reckon under some light it might look a mite “Buick-y”...
