About 5 minutes I had the wires thru the column. just used a single pc of stiff wire to push thru first ,taped to the wires & it's easy peasy. for me it wasn't tedious at all.

Once you remove the pins from the connector it can be a little tight getting them all back up through the small trough. Staggering the pins to make less bulk does make it easier. I prefer to just replace the plastic piece first as it is much simpler step.

I have replaced two complete switches from Mac's and Dearborn. they are not very well made and certainly will not last as a NOS. I did find a different looking switch from Restoration Parts Source for about the same price but looks to be from a different manufacture. Might give them a try but this time I am going to inspect/test and repair or modify as necessary to make sure the dang thing will perform and last as it should. Wish I could find a NOS part.

Putting in the new switch is easy if you just run one wire at a time through the column

Private seller local.

Is it just me or does the 65 Mustang switch with two horn buttons look just like the 64 switch. The 65 has an alternator but I don't see what difference that makes and the 65 is less than half the price of the 64, what gives? Anyone know what the difference is and why wouldn't they interchange?

I wasn't even thinking about 64's being different than 65s. But now that you mentioned it I think I did see 2 different switches at one site,& one said for generator cars. sorry for the confusion.

No problem, I still don't see why they won't interchange.
