'64 Comet tire/wheel size

Post by mncomet »

I am wondering what the biggest tire size and offset I can run without any modifications on a '64. I am thinking 15x7 and wondering what offset should be.

Here's a link to a thread about tire size and wheel choices. It's focused on 65's, but the logic and approach would apply to your 64. By the way, welcome aboard. You're in the right place for most anything you want to know about Comets.

And pictures. We love pictures. Here's how to do that. It suggests using photobucket, but some of us have switched to postimage or imigur or similar. Photobucket has gotten too slow.

I use this chart a lot.

https://tiresize.com/height-chart/
66 Cyclone GT; 245/60R15's on 15x8's and 215/70R15's on 15x7 Magnum's.
There's nothing like the sound of a pushrod V8 singing at the top of her lung's.

Running 15X7 Torque Thrust D standard offset all the way around with 215/65-15 BFG Radials. A little tight in the rear but plenty of room up front. If you want more room go with 205/65-15 tires on 6 inch rims.

Great car in high school my best friend had a 1964 convertible like yours, we had so much fun in that car it ran great all the time, I was trying to modify my stuff all the time so it was good to have something to go in that ran all the time, that is why I bought mine a little modification to make it reliable ya right, I love your car.
