Stock Sway Bar

Post by kyudizky »

Rebuilding front end with SoT coilover and Unisteer R&P system. Anyone know what the stock sway/stabilizer bar size would have been for a (K-Code) '64 Caliente Convertible? When I mic the bar at the bushing locations an am getting .72" (23/32).... which is right between the 11/16" and 3/4" options to replace the bushing while I have the suspension disassembled.

Is it really worth the $100 to go ahead and get a 1" sway bar on a street car? And if so, is it the same size as the 65/66 mustang bar (Dallas Mustang store is down the road from me and could avoid paying shipping)

Thanks for the help as always,

I love my 1 1/8" bar. Took away all the diving in the corners and still rides really nice

As far as I can tell, they don't make larger ones.

I dont see why a mustang bar wouldn't fit , it fits 64's & 65 comets & falcons. I've seen them on 63's.

I did both front and rear on my 65 202. I even put 1 3/8" front and 1" rear on my Mark VIII. It is fun to corner it takes the boring out of driving.
Only use the brakes to stop and get gas.

Appreciate the feedback....... I have a 1 1/8" grab-a-track bar from Mustangs Plus on the way!

After reading your other comments on other threads, I also ordered a pair of Sanderson shorties, hoping they fit nicely with the manual R&P and cable clutch.

Can't wait to get the car back on the road and test it all out with an all new updated from end.

That seems to be a good bar. has the mounts with the tapered corners ,even comes with grease for the rubber, I can't remember what the interference was but one guy with a different bar had the squared ends on his mount brackets & had to trim them.
