Re: 1964 comet suspension parts
64 Comet front suspension parts changed in mid year. Check your vin# to see what month yours was made.
Recommend a inch plus sway bar and KYB gas-a-just shocks.
64 Comets are the car to own!!

Most of those parts should be available from the local parts store, if not you can check Rockauto.com or places like Macs.
Most of those parts are the same as the early Mustangs so they are pretty easy to find, the difference os the drag link will need to be a Comet/Falcon part and maybe the sway bar, the Mustang is a little wider than the Comet
See Ya,
Mike

Re: 1964 comet suspension parts
If you need the steering center link I have at least two of them. ('64 is different than a '65)
I also have upper and lower control arms but I would recommend you just buy a quality new one. (Watch for offshore parts, you get what you pay for)

Mustang sway bar will work fine. As mentioned drag link must be comet or falcon. All other parts can be mustang and are readily available.

Re: 1964 comet suspension parts
The only mid year changes I'm aware of is that the upper balljoints went from 3 bolt to 4 bolt. Easy to tell. Take a front wheel off and look at the upper ball joint. It'll either be held on by 3 bolts or 4 bolts. Or possibly rivets which can be drilled out. Or if you are replacing the upper control arms, just get them with 4 bolt balljoints.
Maybe someone else knows what other changes were made mid-year?

On your vin tag the date should be the most you need, as long as no one changed stuff the last 50 years, like RedHot said the best way to confirm is to look.
On your date built it is under the "DATE" three numbers that give day of month and the month as a letter (A=Jan, B=Feb, etc) so like 15B would be Feb 15, I can't remember the model year change but I think in Sept. or Oct. (someone can confirm) so like a 15J would be a car built in Nov. 1963 and the first letter in the VIN is a 4.
See Ya,

COOL...POP's comet was built sept 20,1963.....277th car off the line...the vin has a few O's in it...AUSSIE JOHN's is 365 built on the same day....BOTH built in SAN JOSE,CALF.....that's early and very odd that 2 comets were built this close and the same color and after all these yrs,for one to be down yonder and for the other to be where it is....thanks and good luck....POPSanta's Comet wrote:POP, Build date is March 03-64.
