Seats

Post by fair67 »

Hello
This is our first post just picked up this 65 Comet for my youngest daughter who will be getting her licence in less then a year. She is really excited about the car and we have begun working on it together to try and get it road worthy. My question is about seat covers it has the front split bench does anyone make original covers for this car I have seen 64 but not 65. Also if they do not would 64 work and is there any other model car covers that would fit. The car needs door panels also I have found a set but they are not the same pattern as the ones in the car. Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, Jake at Falcon Comet Interiors in WA.
66 Cyclone GT; 245/60R15's on 15x8's and 215/70R15's on 15x7 Magnum's.
There's nothing like the sound of a pushrod V8 singing at the top of her lung's.

Thank you she really likes the car and is right in there working on it. The brakes are in bad shape so we are completely redoing them she is a fast learner.

Wow! She does good work. Tell her to keep pecking away at it and make it her own. That's what hot roddin' is all about.

Thanks for the nice reply. She is 15 and instead of spending about 500 for door panels and another 900 for bench seat covers her and my wife decided to make them. They turned out pretty good and she can use the money saved somewhere else in the car she really wants it to be her daily school driver. We have done 2 concourse correct 67 Fairlanes and this Comet is kinda a nice change not having to worry about every bolt being correct. We will keep it as close to correct as we can but to be honest the interior was just not in the budget.
Thanks

Those panels look great. She might be able to sell some and make a little money that could be used on the car. It's hard for me to picture kids wanting to work on old cars anymore and to have a daughter who is into it is really cool. There is still hope in the future to keep these cars rolling along.

Well it it kinda my fault and my wifes we have 2 fairlanes we redone to concourse correct when the kids were growing up. Lyndsey and my oldest Laura both helped with completely restoring them. Here are some pics of Lyndsey who has the 65 Comet. She is standing in the engine compartment of the Fairlane and she says to me are we gonna get this back together...LOL..

Great looking kid and car. 8) I'm sure these will be memories that both girls will cherish for a lifetime. Parents, too.

They certainly do good work! do they weld, build motors & paint? I wasn't much bigger than her in those pics when My dad had me changing dash bulbs for him. I could get my little hands in places his wouldn't fit ,& this would save him from pulling the whole dash. I still remember the smile it would put on his face after each bulb would light up! :D
