Radiator

Our 65 Comet has a 289 bored .30 over and we live in Illinois so I am worried about it overheating when my daughter drives the car. Has anyone used an aluminum radiator with better cooling then the original and if so what is the most cost effective brand that is a direct bolt in to buy.

I used a Champion 2-row aluminum, 5-blade fan, and the Drake ABS shroud...works fine. The shroud is pretty deep so with your fan ~3/4” from the rad you might need to do some trimming to get the blades half in/ half out. The aluminum rads are thicker; the 3-row shroud brackets worked perfect on the 2-row rad.

The radiators were too small in ALL these cars!! :lol: :lol: :D

I agree with the champion radiator. I got 3 and they work well and are cheep on ebay. I also use a corrosion rod in place of the drain plug. I do not fully understand it but there is electrical fluting going on with the aluminum radiator. I have read that grounding should be done at the trans to help,

I got the radiator in also a fan shroud fabricated and in the car also. I hope it will all work fine the shroud was a bit of work.

Yep looks good! :D do you have a puke tank? I used one of these cheap skinny SS tanks from ebay, The quality was better than I expected for that money. & it's small & out of the way too.

fait 67 would you mind posting the distance from where the rad mounts to the rad support to the water pump flange . (the total available room between water pump flange and rad support ) my car is gutted so the engine is out and I am putting in a new aluminum rad meant for a 67 mustang which is 2 wider over all an 3 1/8 thick for just a little more cooling surface. so if I am going to have to enlargen the opening I want to figure out if I am going to have to move the rad forward to get more clearance. for my spal electric fan . It would be greatly appreciated.
It doesn't matter how many pictures I took on disassembly I wish I had a spare Comet or friend with one so I could use to gather this info
