1964 trans swap

Post by Wildcomet »

I'm new to this hobby. Just bought a 64 Caliente with a later model 5 liter roller cam motor (1990?) with a c4 auto and want to convert to a 4 speed trans. I know there are different balance flywheels and need to know which one goes with the 5 liter engine. Also I'm obtaining a correct T10 trans and would like to know if the C4 crossmember and drive shaft can be used with the T10 installation and what size clutch would be recommended?

Welcome!! 50oz. unbalance for the flywheel. The yoke will need to be changed on the driveshaft (spline count is different). The crossmember should work but you may need to change to the later type mount (side by side vs inline bolts/studs) depending on the trans.

ETA: 10” clutch. I like the diaphragm type but the old style Long-type works fine too. I think I still have my original T10 yoke if you don’t find one local.
'cause Johno says you gotta have a sig pic! :)
