Can anyone advise me of the correct routing of the speedo cable on a 65 with top loader trans.?
All the parts mags says it takes 82" but I have a lot left over so think I may be wrong in the routing.
A picture would help. send to my email. rskaggs1@cvalley.net
thanks

Refreshing this post. Did you ever get an answer? I am about to bolt up the toploader in my 64.

Ok, problem is I'm going from the short cable 3 speed so I don't what the T10 routing looks like.barrys65cyclone wrote:same as the t-10 4spd .
I have the 64 Comet shop manual but I don't think it shows this amount of detail

On my 65 4 speed it exits the hole in the floor pan towards the passenger side; above the trans. It does a short loop on the passenger side and comes back around (above the crossmember) into the speedo hole in the trans. I think the point here is to get it positioned to avoid any sharp bends so the cable inside the conduit can spin freely.luc3ch wrote:Ok, problem is I'm going from the short cable 3 speed so I don't what the T10 routing looks like.barrys65cyclone wrote:same as the t-10 4spd .

Theres a graphite lube available to pour into the cable housing to make sure things turn smoothly.

Thanks. that makes sense.
The cable and sheath are brand new reassembled. I figure they must be lubricated out of the box. Should I add graphite anyway even though it's new?

Yeah I would add the lube. Can’t hurt.
I cured a jumpy speedo with a little bit of that stuff. Pulled the cable out, lubed it and slid it back in.
