This is the bolt holding the tee for the L/R brakes and mounted on one side.
Can someone tell me why this goes right into the axle housing and is like a fill fitting but the fill plug already exists at the back?
thanks!

Ok I'll answer my own question now that I found some reference.
Seems it's a vent. I didn't know they had to have this. And the video below the guy says this type is for a single exhaust (2min 54sec) and that dual exhaust is different. No I just have to find out what the dual exhaust one looks like

That is a vent and you just have to run the hose away from the exhaust pipe. I installed a vent with a cap which does not use any hose, but if you plan on running thru creeks then you need the hose

As for the brake hose/tee that gets bolted down by that vent bolt,,,some of us who raised the car, moved the rear end back or both in my case use a hose for a 70's ford 1/2 ton truck. it's basically the same thing but longer. Also nice to have the extra length if running dual exhaust for more room.
