I know they did for a 65, but they are very expensive. Not sure about a 64. If they did, i'll bet they a tough to find. I would consider one of the companies that modernize your old am radio with modern components inside of it. They sound a lot better too. Look around the net, i've seen a couple places already. Good Luck!

I checked these guys out Antique Auto Radio http://www.radiosforoldcars.com/stereoF.htm and emailed for a quote. $550 is what I was told  That gets me 4 channel 180 watt RMS (4 x 45w) FM Stereo and AM radio. For $75 extra I can get an iPod cable attached that will play and charge my iPod. So...uh...$625 total.
Its a little steep for an occasional driver I think, but our options are limited on these cars. I recently saw an original 65 Comet AM/FM radio go for $450 on Ebay. Antique Auto Radio have local dealers spread out that can do the conversion.

The ‘64 had an optional am/fm. It did not fit in the regular am radio face plate, a special face plate is required. It is also the same radio that was used in the big Mercury models.
I have a am/fm and matching plate for my Cyclone, if you would like a photo of the face plate.

I was told, meaning I don't have direct knowledge, that this is the same radio that was in the 64 Thunderbird. The person who told me went to great lengths to make sure that I understood that it was NOT a stereo FM.

The part # that I listed is for a AM/FM radio kit. That may be the difference between that part # and those I see that are FTE or something like that.

There is one that is said to be a 64 Cyclone AM/FM floating around the web. I don't know why the "Cyclone" radio would be any different than any other Comet AM/FM radio.

One is listed as "untested" for $600. They must be as rare as hens teeth.

1964 comet and Cyclone the same AM /FM radio as for the thunderbird I would highly doubt they would be the same unless you like the look of a factory style AM / FM radio [ I do ] then I would send the AM out and have converted, Me I purchased a factory AM / FM for 1965 and sent it away to have converted & upgraded to high power Stereo if you want that look you will PAY $$$

The model of ‘64 Comet makes no difference, an am/mono or am/fm mono will fit if the correct face plate is used. 202,204,Caliente, Cyclone all shares the same dash layout. I also know the radio itself is the same between the Comet and the big Mercury, obviously the face plates are model unique.

Radio code F4TBE for the am/ fm.

4TME for the am only I just got the 4TME from an EBay seller for $45 and knobs for another 25.

Basically to plug the ugly hole in my dash with something original.
