Re: How to box in control arms
Here is my version of a boxed lower control arm. I used 10 guage mild steel heli arc welded. The rubber bushings have been replaced with a spherical bearing (replaceable) the boxing sheet wraps around the bearing sleeve to strengthen the unit.

I also fabricated adjustable strut rods, the rubber bushing is just so from the front of the car they’re stock looking.

These will be used with a Gateway Performance Suspension strut system.

Something tells me your going to do a lot more with your car than i will with mine , i just wanted my setup to be stronger, also are the comets the only cars that already had adjustable strut rods?
Mine are threaded a good 4" or better on the end and it uses 2 nuts to locate where the bushings sit

The earlier Comets/ Falcons had adj strut rods...not so on '64 & up
Re: How to box in control arms
Both look great! Only thing I might do different would be to add jack brackets so a floor jack cant slip. my original LCA's had them but the new ones didn't. I decided not to add them because I didnt want to re paint & had a jack pad on my under belly crossbar planned. Opentracker boxes their UCA's in with plates on the outsides of them.
I really like those adj strutrods Jim. I made some not near as nice as yours & used the stock cupped washing on front to appear stock from the front as well. I may add sperical bearings to LCA's if I ever wear out the rubber bushings
