Don’t laugh...
Don’t laugh...
Awhile back I picked-up a 6-blade fan from a ‘Stanger off CL locally. The plan was to use it with the engine upgrade.
So tonight I’m checking how deep a spacer I’ll need and as I’m looking the pitch on the blades doesn’t look right. I went downstairs and the only fan I’ve got hanging out to compare is a clutch fan that mighta come off of a reverse rotation setup on a Fox ‘Stang - but I don’t remember... I’m thinking this thing might be a reverse rotation replacement...
I’ve always put OEM fans on with rivet heads towards the rad. I’m probably tired which is not helping. Sooo...which way does it go...Pic 1 or Pic 2???

Re: Don’t laugh...
The top pic would be correct if it is the correct fan. that is a reverse rotation fan,is that what you are going to set up for ?
Re: Don’t laugh...
Nope. Standard rotation V-belt setup. That’s what got me noodling...didn’t look right. Seems like with clockwise rotation I need Pic 2 - flipped around....

That’s what my tired noggin is thinking...pitch won’t be right flipping it or not. It’ll just be worse!

Start it up and see which way the air blows.

Which way will the fan rotate when viewed through the radiator? If counter clockwise, that fan will work. If clockwise, you'll be trying to blow air through the rad instead of pulling air through it.

Jim - Standard clockwise rotation. I ordered a new fan today - it’s only $$ right??
Re: Don’t laugh...
clockwise Jim. If you look at mine & his the pitch's are opposite of each other. My Fan sucks!

Heck yeah! Shucks, even one wee seed!!!
I wonder if that feller knew it was a reverse rotation fan. No matter now, but I’m glad i didn’t get it all together and THEN have the light bulb go on. I’ve gone through enough antifreeze the last few years to buy a 12-pack o’ fans....

At least you caught it. Buying another fan is a lot cheaper than overheating and possibly screwing something else up or getting stranded on the road.
