There's nothing like the sound of a pushrod V8 singing at the top of her lung's.

Re: 64 Comet Build
I tend to hang on to stuff as well, my wife thinks too much
Of course I have hung on to her for nearly 30 years (next year makes 30) and I have had the Comet even longer (39 years next year) So I am all in there with you Pops on keeping things and when I do get rid of stuff I usually give it away to someone I think needs the help.
See Ya,
Mike

Re: 64 Comet Build
So Rod & Custom MII doesn't call for any more strengthening of the front frame rails besides the angle pieces attached to it? I know it wraps the frame but doesn't need anything back towards the firewall?
I only ask because I have seen it done both ways, some box the frame back to, or nearly, back to the firewall, some do not and I am still debating how I want to do mine, I don't want the 250 powerhouse twisting my frame rails up

Mike,
I researched several manufactures some with the frame rail plates and some without.
I prefer the KISS approach...Keep It Simple Stupid
Plus, after a lengthy discussion with the Engineer at R&C about the (FEA) Finite Element Analysis tests that they conduct on all of their designs along with the CAD modeling they use I was sold on them.
Ultimately, it really comes down to personal preference.
Although, I would stick to USA made.

Re: 64 Comet Build
Well I already have mine (the cross member) I have to build the frame rail part myself. The crossmember is a Welder's Series from Canada so I missed it on the USA partfrdpwr wrote:Ultimately, it really comes down to personal preference.

Re: 64 Comet Build
Not much been happening to the RUSTY RELIC,,few new parts finaly came in,,,kept digging in spare parts stash and came up with a perfect gauge cluster,,modified a set of bbk chrome headers and they are on,the correct oil pan was delivered the other day, found the correct rad and fan,,,and found the awol shifter,,then son's job has picked up and he's been burning a lot of midnight oil,,,and of course some sickness in the family,,but things are looking like they may start leaning toward the RUSTY RELIC,,so maybe by this week end ,we can make a showing ,again....plus,the weather ain't been totally on our side.....but it ain't no step for a stepper pop

Sorry to hear about folks being sick Pop. Nobody's gotten any serious plague so far, but I don't think we've had a single week with all of our clan healthy this winter!! Everybody seems OK now...I probably shouldn't have said THAT!
That's great a set of shelf headers fit the N heads and fit in the 'Relic with not much work!!
