Transmission ID tag deciphering

Post by billybob »

My 1965 Mercury Comet transmission ID tag number is "PCW AA 894L4 B4". Anyone know of a website for this? Thanks.

It’s a C4...tentatively from a ‘65 Falcon but could well be original. Likely someone with a better magic decoder ring will chime in!!
'cause Johno says you gotta have a sig pic! :)

Per the '65 Comet, Falcon, Fairlane and Mustang Shop Manual, PCW-AA is a Comet/Falcon tranny for 289 2V or 4V engines.

Is the rest of the number the serial number? Thanks very much for the help.

I'm not sure what the 894L4 B4 means.
