To me it sOunds like vacuum or electronics. I'd remove the negative wire for 15 mins, clear the ECU's and then drive it till it do...

Bench seat might be a problem - your shifter will move back and to the left just a bit. My 67 already had buckets so it was a non issue for me. What you need depends on what year T5 you get - just make sure you don't use the 4 cyl version is you are producing much torque... The 94-95 T5 have a longe...
