Re: SHIFTER LOCATION? 64 COMET
tag says 67-69 comet /falcon/fairlane wide ratio 28 spl toploader. But from what I can see looks to be in the right location, just in front of the tunnel hump brace. factory looking hole shape & I've heard was like they did it hastily & not pretty. But it is a better tougher trans than the borg warn...

Re: 64 Caliente, 289 engine PCV valve
That is how you test it,shake it ,if it rattles it's good ,if it dont rattle ,it is bad -get a new one. & yes it should fit tight even with oil on it . Probably the rubber grommet is wore out & hard . tape is a good temporary fix. but could get old & brittle & possibly a piece of it sucked into the ...

Re: Finally I can say hello to my new friend.
Welcome on ! :D nice little car ! since you are upgrading to 5 lug fronts ,dont settle for 63 or 64 parts,, get 65 stuff.. it will drive better all way around. & tons of aftermarket performance parts for 65 v8 parts courtesy of the mustang after market, if you plan to autocross it. here is a great a...

Re: 1965 comet caliente
If it seems like it is the connectors & not a shorted wire you might try pulling the plug & cleaning the contacts on it. it's harder to clean the female sides but I used some small wire brushes to clean mine & other female wire connectors & used electronic grease before reinstalling

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Still have some concerns that the rear shakles will go forward each time we put the car on the lift. that would be perfectly normal. & is the reason for having shackles vs mounting the spring solid . shackles take the pressure off the mounting points during articulation & allow the spring to work a...

Re: 1965 comet caliente
It is probably just one bad wire. I'd look at the wire that runs to the solenoid , the small wire that goes to the "I" terminal on it. it gets power from the key ignition switch in the ''on'' position. I think it is brown on the engine side of firewall but may change colors at the plug & be another ...

Welcome on! hold off on tearing down if you can! after you get it running just enjoy it a while. peck at the small issues & keep it fun. tearing one down is easy but is what ends up being a killer for lots of these cars. Life gets in the way lots of times & they never get put back together. bumpers ...

Re: ‘64 Falcon Track Project
Just another thought, since you changed floats maybe toy with float level? my 4100 was finicky about levels. it was a 112 from a 352 , but surprised me how much levels changed things. Like Lou said ,might watch your a/f gauge @ 6-7 g's see if it leans out or something. good excuse to take a run up t...

Well you've redone everything else you've tackled, might as well restore the heater box, especially if the heater hoses look old. it's not too hard to completely take out. only the four nuts in the engine bay around the fan motor to mount it. then defrost ducts & a couple of cables & the heater hose...

Are you sure the tach is right? spankin ass, faster times, on less rpm?
Have you tried your spare set of points & condensers? or your spare coil?
always nice to rule stuff out.

Re: Unlisted 1964 Comet Transmission
But keep in mind the manuals were most likely published earlier in the year. they had to be ready before any of the cars were made. so if a new trans came out early in the model year it still might not make it into a manual. yours looks like oct 19 built car which would be 63 . but manuals had to be...

Having a car passed down would have to be cool, wondering where all she went in it & thinking about her every drive!

Re: Unlisted 1964 Comet Transmission
I'm ''Guessing'' C4,3 speed ,& that the manual came out before the trans. I think it was about that time the auto trans went from 2 to 3 speed.
Basing my guess from 65's ,they had a 6 code & was a 3 speed c4.
