Re: 289 T5 flywheel

Currently have the T5 bell housing and the cable clutch set up installed. I will look into a 28 oz after market flywheel.

64 Caliente interior

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good book that will guide me through putting my interior together? I bought the car stripped so had no interior to remove as reference to guide me. Biggest hurdle is that I have never installed the cloth door welting.

289 T5 flywheel

I have an older 302 In my 64 with a T5 and the T5 flywheel. I get a vibration just above idle until the revs come up. I assume this is the older 28 oz balance motor with the new 50 oz flywheel. My question is what 28 oz flywheel will work with the T5 bell housing and trans? I plan on installing my 6...

9 inch spiders

I bought a used but rebuilt 9 inch limited slip unit. It is a 4 pin unit, however whomever rebuilt it only put the main pin and spiders back in. I have a 4 pin open rear that I can use for parts and my question is if the open four pin spiders will work in the posi unit? Did Ford use the same spiders...

Caliente headliner parts

Been a while since I have been here. I am still looking for some bow trim pieces for my 64 Caliente. I have all of my plastic rib covers but one is broken 3 inches from end and I am missing one of the chrome end covers. I would like to know if anyone can dig up one of the chrome pieces for me. Mine ...

Re: Valve question

So to understand this, what I can find is that 289's used the same pushrod's whether stud rockers or rail rockers. The valves are 4.870 long for 65 and down and 5.030 long for 66 and up. The rail rockers were made to grab the valve tip to keep themselves centered without guide plates. So from this I...

Re: Valve question

I figured it was a pushrod problem. I will be sure to check the length. I am waiting to catch a deal on some roller rockers. Thinking about getting 1.7 ratio because I want to use my old cam. I have an old Isky, 300 duration, 108 degree with .476 lift, 3,000 to 7,000 rpm power band, hydraulic. The 1...

Valve question

I have a 65 289A and have ported my original heads. Now I have bought stainless valves for a 351W and intend to have them installed. They are 1.85" intake and 1.54" exhaust. The question has to do with the stem length. The 351W valves are about 1/4" longer above the lock groove and I am wondering if...

Re: Caliente headliner bows

Hello again,
I am still looking for headliner help and parts. I have had offers of help but no one has followed through for me. I do understand that we all don't live on the site, but any help would be appreciated.

Re: Caliente headliner bows

Thanks Sassy, I have the four main card boards but I don't have the C pillar sections which I would figure to be reversible. I don't get upset about someone honestly forgetting to do something. I am also just trying to the best I can. It's the "I will's" that never come through that dash your hopes....

Re: Caliente headliner bows

I am writing as a reminder that I am looking for headliner parts and tracings of the smaller rear pieces. I have written the offers of parts and understand that with the weather it is difficult to do some things. I have not heard back from the offers and would just like them to know that I am still ...

Re: Caliente headliner bows

Thank you Poboy but I think you misunderstand me or I am calling what I want by the wrong name. On the Caliente/Cyclone as you know the headliner is cardboard made up of four main pieces and two small pieces that run between the rear window and the rear passenger window from the roof to the rear dec...

Re: Caliente headliner bows

Those are for Falcons and 202/404 Comets that have the cloth headliners. 64/65 Calientes and Cyclones had a special headliner made up of cardboard panels with the cloth glued to them. The panels fit into special track type bows and the joint covered with a special plastic trim. What I actually need ...

Caliente headliner bows

Hello All, I am still looking for headliner bows for my 64 Comet Caliente. I had offers from some of you and sadly I did not take you up on them. I instead took up the offer of just one man who basically stood me up. I won't single him out but he was going to send me his old set of bows for just the...

Re: T5 speedometer cable

I have a complete 9 inch rear with a 3:55 gear. I also have a Trac Loc that has been rebuilt. Not far from me is a guy that builds rails for people and he says that for $250 he will cut the rear to fit and another $250 to rebuild the pig with the Trac Loc in it. I think that is the way I will go unl...
