Re: Track Report

Wallace racing says 9.83 under ideal conditions but I hate guessing at anything. I do know this new motor has some more snot left in it, I ain't wrung it all out yet! I was leaving real soft the other night and the 1/8th mile was 6.33 @ 109. I believe it'll do some 6 teens when I start leaving harder.

Re: Track Report

Well I finally have the hot rod patched back up from last years crash and made it to the track. With the new motor in it I made my quickest and fastest pass ever, 8.16@123 in the 1000'. This was only on the fourth pass, so I believe it may have some 7.80's in it with a little more work.

Re: Gear ratios for drag cars

Yea Roy your right, i need to price a new spool and axles and see what I can come up with or maybe find a used spool. Vicegrip I think you may be right about putting to much stress on the trans with what I was talking about. I do have a well built trans but it probably wouldn't hold up very long.

Re: Gear ratios for drag cars

Harry I guess I'll just keep running the same setup I have now. I only have 31 spline moser axles in it now, so I'm gonna stress test them and maybe they'll hold up. After fixing the crash damage, new rear suspension, new brakes all the way around, new motor, and converter, I may not have enough in ...

Re: Gear ratios for drag cars

Yep all the big hp cars at our local track use a two speed, and almost all the small tire guys too. I don't think I'll be one of the high hp cars but I am hoping for close to 800 and I only have a 275 tire. I just wonder what would it hurt to use a 3.00:1 rear gear and only first and second at the t...

Re: Gear ratios for drag cars

64merc;I would say stay with the C-4 you already have! A powerglide is OK if you build your engine combination, and set the car up to handle just two gears! Depending on what RPMs the new combo will make the best HP and Torque, you may need to change rear gears in order to keep the engine in its swee...

Re: Gear ratios for drag cars

A lot of the small tire guys at our local track use a glide to help keep the launch less violent. With the old combination I would have trouble at the hit unless the track in good shape, that's why folks have told me to use a 'glide. I'm going to use my c4 and this is just an idea me and a bud was t...

Re: Gear ratios for drag cars

Both the C4 and powerslide have a 1 to 1 high gear so I will not change the rear end gear you need in my opinion. I always tried to pick a gear that had me at just under the engines red line in 4th gear as I crossed the finish line. I am sure others have another theory but that has worked for me. p...

Re: Gear ratios for drag cars

Yea I'd rather use my c4 and keep drand x parts off my car, but I guess I'm just wondering if its feisable to try. I'm sure if it worked well a lot of folks would be doing it though. Probably just another one of my ideas that won't work lol. I hope to have all the head specs back soon so I can hash ...
