Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
20210126_153920.jpg firewall 2.jpeg With the firewall out the mocking up begins. Unfortunately the 427 engine will sit higher so the clutch fork for the 4 speed toploader will not fit using the original clutch/brake pedals. I will use a hydraulic clutch to save space....The firewall will be hand fa...

Any Ideas for a new aftermarket clutch/brake assembly ?
Hello all, still chugging along on my 64 Comet Pro Street build and I was wondering if any one out there had put a new set of aftermarket brake/clutch pedals in their 64 Comet ? I have Willwood disc brakes front and back..

Did you fabricate those rear quarter panels yourself?? they look awesome! I need a pair of those made bad. Yes I did fab those rear quarter panels or I should say , I'm in the process LOL . I have to make a panel from the drivers door to the bumper. I am making the panel in three pieces then I will...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
I did a little mocking up over the weekend. It looks like the engine will fit under the "teardrop" hood. The engine is still setting higher than expected which leads me to a new problem. The crankshaft is currently 6 1/2 inches higher than the rear differential....Are we having fun yet ??? LOL 20200...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
I wanted to share a quick update.. I had to replace the tail panel that sits behind the bumper with new sheet metal. Getting the frame tied in with the rear sheet metal.

Rack and Pinion problem 64 Comet
Sometimes you think you have done all the homework before you do something and you still have major issues..... I had an run of the mill Mustang II front end welded in my rolling chassis but now I'm finding out that the steering rack on the cross member is sitting too high and it's giving me fits on...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
Well, It's been a while since the last post and I'm pretty well healed up after ankle fusion surgery last July. It's been a long winter not being able to work on the Comet much but that is gonna change. Over the winter I acquired another '64 Comet Caliente pro street project that some of you are fam...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
It looks like it has a nice stance in those pictures. The stance does look good, but I only have about an inch of clearance when I turn the wheels from hitting the wheel wells. Is this too close for comfort ??? I do not have the fenders bolted on exactly where they need to be , I just put them om t...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
If the guys who built the frame say not to modify the s next to the firewall, did they offer any suggestions on what they would do? Could you cut the entire s out of the frame and have a new one made at the correct angle to tie it all back together. That way your not modifying the s and weakening i...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
I don't know,Red.You might be running into other problems with that arrangement...Like coilovers being too short and not enough adjustment left to set the camber if you want to keep the car level.Guys usually want to keep the motor as low in the body as they can. It's your car and I definitely see t...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
Here is where the body will sit. Definitely going to need a tear drop hood !! You can see where the old frame was and where the new frame will be, almost 3 inches difference.
