Complete Dash Swap "Q"

I've been pondering the difficulties in swapping out my '67 dash (not just the pad; but the entire thing) with a '67 Fairlane or '66 Comet dash. I really don't like the '67's dash but love everything else (Don't love the '66 Comet either; but I'd swap what I find first). Is the metal portion of the ...

Z-Bar / Equalizer Bar "Q"

I'm in the midst of putting together a Mercury 410 (1966 out of a Park Lane originally: now 30 over, with Aluminum heads, Tri-Power and Sig Erson cam) for my '67 Comet 202. It currently has a little 302 with a top loader. I have the bell housing, transmission (top loader), motor mounts, radiator and...

Re: My 66 Comet 202

Bumping around old threads; have you done anything with this one yet? I've got a '67 202 and have had a good time tinkering with it (my dad handed it down around 1996). Does it have all 4 little hub caps? I kept mine (looking for OEM looking 15" wheels so I can keep them). Happy to see some old 202'...

Engine Run Stand

My dad and I are pretty close to finishing the 410 for my Comet. I would really like to build an engine run stand to break it in. I've been thinking of building one out of wood, since we really don't build enough engines (last one was my 302 circa 1998) to justify an $800 engine run stand. I've Goog...

2014 Hill Aerospace Museum Car Show

Free pictures with an F-16 for all the car show participants. Sorry about the Chrysler front wheels/caps. My reversed Fords are out of round and rub my fender. The show was at the Hill Aerospace Museum at Hill Air Force Base in Utah (near Ogden; about 35 minutes north of Salt Lake City). http://i137...

Aftermarket Tach

Has anyone here stuffed an aftermarket tack in the blank clock dash opening in their Comet? I had mine all tore apart a couple weeks ago and there is plenty of room back there, and I've seen somewhere a Chevy guy did it and it looked/worked awesome. Just wondering which aftermarket tach has the best...

Re: Upholstery Opinion

Yes I'm shopping around the salvage yards for a seat with similar dimentions to tear apart. My new durango and the beetle have foam built up from a plastic base; it's a little stiffer foam; but it works good. My dad's '35 Ford Truck also has foam built up seats (they look and ride great) .. I'm stil...

Upholstery Opinion

I found a seat (bench) for my '67 Comet 202. Didn't look "too bad" in the pictures but after tearing it down the upholsterer (does good work) called and asked that I come visit and discuss the seat. Turns out it the springs and all the wires under there are beyhond repair and I'm on a budget so he s...

Re: 289 to 390 swap..

I'm doing a similar deal with a 410 Mercury FE in place of my 302 that was put in place of a 6cyl .. I'm still missing a z-bar; headers (looking for used; new is just out of my budget) and hoping the tri-power fits under the stock hood (it's a stock tri-power so I'm assuming it'll fit under there). ...

Re: Long Time Owner

Not sure we'll be in attendance this year; maybe I can jerk the wife's chain hard enough to get us out there next year though. I took my bench seat to the upholstery guy; he wants to discuss other options today at 4 .. Guess it was in even worse shape than I suspected (I knew it was in bad shape; bu...

Junk yard Bench Seat Questions

My wife picked up a bench seat for me while she was in Washington (State) last week ( http://www.allamericanclassics.com ). In the pictures it didn't look all that bad (minus the vinyl). She didn't take very detailed pictures; mainly just standing outside the drivers side and iPhone'd it for me. I w...

Re: New member, inherited a '65 Comet Caliente

That surface rust holds paint like no bodies business (my Pinto had surface rust and I rattle canned it back to a bumpy shinny polished turd in a little over 6 beers) .. Seriously though the panels look pretty strait regardless, the rest can be massaged down to something you can toss some primer and...

Re: Long Time Owner

I've grown fond of white muscle cars. they're the sleepiest of the sleepers. Hide some indicators around here and there; then act all surprised when you break them loose leaving a stop light or beat an unsuspecting crazy fast looking monster. If you get beat; you can simple say "awe, I didn't build ...

Re: Long Time Owner

Okay; snagged a Photobucket account; here's the car at the Cache Valley Cruise In up in Logan Utah. I like getting there really early so I can get a spot in the shade. This year I was saving the site next to us for a friend in Cheyenne but he didn't make it. Ended up letting a young couple with a 67...
