Re: Need input on selling 63 S-22 Hardtop

Thanks for the input. I've looked at the BAT and auction info that you've all graciously pointed me to. Seems like most (all?) are mods of some sort. Mine's pretty much stock except for the wheels, a C4 transmission that was installed prior to me purchasing, updated radiator / fan blade, and HEI dis...

Re: Need input on selling 63 S-22 Hardtop

I know there's a "sales" forum so I'll only post a few pics here. Appreciate thoughts on ESTIMATED value in the current market. Per Hagerty classification I'd put it as a high 3 / low 2. But I saw the 63 Comet Custom Hagerty valued at 18k (and classified as a "2") from the Feb 2018 Leake Dallas auct...

Need input on selling 63 S-22 Hardtop

Well, I've had fun and done some a whole lot of restoration on my 63 S-22 Hardtop over the last 11 years but I'm moving in a different direction now. So I'm looking for any and all suggestions on selling my car, i.e., recommended websites or auctions, valuation, etc. I'm thinking of going no minimum...

Engine not stopping with key out...

Well I thought I posted this yesterday, but did a quick check this morning and didn't see anything so I'm "re-posting" (at least in my mind). And if this is a duplicate - apologies in advance. Took my 63 S22 Hardtop for a stretch of the legs on Saturday, got home, turned the key off (and removed it)...

Windshield washer nozzle and tubing

OK...I've asked the 60-63 forum and haven't heard back from anybody so thought I'd ask this crowd. I decided to give up putting my single speed windshield washer switch back together and decided to go full daily driver with my 63 S22 Hardtop. So in addition to installing a new Newport Engineering va...

Windshield washer nozzle and tubing

Well I decided to give up putting my single speed windshield washer switch back together and decided to go full daily driver. So in addition to installing a new Newport Engineering variable speed motor and switch, I'm also installing a washer pump (no washer kit originally on my 63 S22 hardtop) and ...

Re: Electrical - turn signals / dash lights

Thanks for all the feedback. Interim update... Pulled the headlight switch out and changed all the fuses. All were good although a few appeared to be "growing" things in them. BUT when I was swapping out the Rear / signal fuse I noticed that there was a very small movement in the lead attachment to ...

Electrical - turn signals / dash lights

I swapped out the headlight switch hoping to solve my missing dash lights. Well, not only did it not fix my dash lights, now by turn signals don't work (they worked before I swapped out the headlight switch). I've glanced at old topics in this forum and in others, but don't recall seeing anything on...

Re: Trim Moulding Clips

Here are a few places I've used: http://www.restorationspecialties.com/Products.html https://mrgusa.com/ Two things I learned when I redid all the moulding - (1) better to have detailed pictures and measurements and have a great helper on the phone, OR visit in person to pick...or you'll end up with...

63 S22 LED Headlight Conversion

Driving last night and remembered why I don't drive the Comet at night much - the headlights are from a different era. You don't realize the improvements that have been made in headlight technology until you drive an antique. So with that background is anybody thinking about LED conversions, or alre...

63 Wiper Switch

Haven't seen any posts on this so looking for any guidance. I tried turning on my wipers the other day and nothing happened (and yes, they've worked previously). Took a look under the dash and noticed that the wiper knob wasn't attached to anything. Checked around for unattached and lonely wires and...

Firewall Insulation Pad

1963 Mercury S22 Hardtop. Working on the heater box and the firewall insulation pad is crumbling as I try to pull the heater box out (and that box definitely doesn't want to come out). So...general questions: 1. Replace the firewall insulation pad with OEM type or something else? 2. Firewall gasket ...

Re: Leaf springs 63 S22 260

Just to close this message. I ended up ordering leaf springs from ESPO and they confirmed the information that's in my 1963 Master Parts Catalog, i.e., 1963 V8 Comets had 6 leaves. Smaller engines in 63 had 5 leaves.

Re: Door panels

When I replaced mine a few years back the only choice for OEM was SMS Auto Interiors. But expect $$$$ and long delay. I think there are a few companies that do plastic 63 Comet door panel replacements but they aren't "technically" correct. That said, if you're not going concours then maybe Falcon wo...

Leaf springs 63 S22 260

Hey there. Well I'm continuing on my car to-do list and right after I replace the radiator I'm planning on replacing the leaf springs. Pulled out my parts book and unless I'm reading it incorrectly it shows that the 63 S22 260 had 6 leaf springs. Looking under my car and I swear there are only 4 lea...
