Re: Real Tire Rubbing the Wheel Well
Are the spring and shackle bushings in good shape? If the clearances are tight, worn bushings could cause the rubbing if the rear axle can move side to side excessively.

Check with Dan williams or David Kee toploaders. They can help you with the right setup for your rear axle ratios.

Re: Door weatherstrip panel
Good job! The welds look fine. You won’t see them once the weather strip is in anyway.

Re: Door weatherstrip panel
I replaced mine using 20 gauge sheet metal. Bent it in the brake. Sprayed some weld through zinc primer on the backside of the piece and on the bottom of the door and spot welded it in place.

Re: 289 T5 flywheel
You will have to buy a hybrid flywheel that has 157 tooth ring gear and is drilled for a 10 1/2 inch clutch that I assume your are running with the 50 oz setup. I bought a ford motorsports flywheel, but I think other manufacturers are making a similar setup. Which bellhousing are you using?

Re: 1964 Trunk lock assembly
I don’t know about the 64’s but on my 65, the angle of the trunk lock sleeve on the 65 mustang is a little different than the comet. I had to modify the trunk lid to make it fit right, but it got me a new sleeve for cheap versus trying to find an expensive original.

Re: Toploader conversion from 3 speed
I got an installation kit from Dan Williams Toploader Transmissions in NC. He repops obsolete kits for hurst shifters. My car is a bench seat car. I am looking to use an original shift lever on my hurst shifter so it looks stock.

Re: how many were made?
I would love to see photos of that one as my car is a 404 sedan. I am doing a hipo knockoff with solid lifter small block, 4 spd, and 9 inch. Those photos would offer great info.

Re: Opinions on 289 heads with big valves
Those don’t look like the early small chamber heads. Get a casting number to determine chamber size. Your 68 heads are around 58 cc. If you are going to add a hotter camshaft, screw in studs would probably be a good idea.
