Re: 64 Caliente, 289 engine PCV valve
So got in the new pcv valve, just curious is the little plunger thingy suppose to be fairly loose? Almost didn't think there was a spring inside. the current pcv valve, the spring held the plunger thingy down, although you could easily push it with your finger. This new one from NAPA is kinda 'flops...

64 Caliente, 289 engine PCV valve
Ok, I added a new Comet to the family. A 64 Caliente with a 289.
Want to replace the PCV valve but do not know which one to get. I don't understand the V999 number that is listed on the PCV descriptions.
Someone at Ecklers said look for the V237, but thought I would ask here.
Thanks.

61 4dr. front grill black paint
I had the front grill de-anodized, sanded, buffed polished and re-anodized. yeah, it was pricey but it looks great. So I want to add back the black vertical highlights and the black around the headlight trim. It's not much at all but restoration is restoration. What products are people using that ha...

Re: New exhaust system
Just following up to finish this thread i guess. The long exhaust pipe was actually in very good condition per my local muffler shop. So I ordered muffler and tail pipe and had the local shop install it. Way easier for them to put on lift, added an additional hanger to keep muffler and tail pipe awa...

Re: What holds emblems in other pieces on?
On my 61 4 dr. restoration, in addition to the barrel nuts for these types of emblems, i added just a bit of RTV sealant/adhesive to the stud. Especially for any of the exterior emblems. These pieces are pretty rare and hard to find, so I wanted to ensure they did not fall off the car, and/or make i...

Re: 4 dr. 61. Window Channels.....adhesive or no?
So I went with no adhesive when installing the side window channels. I spread the channel sides apart a bit more than they were so the fit would be pretty snug. Used a thin piece of wood to seat them all the way in. The tricky part was installing the beltline weather strips that keep leaves and junk...

4 dr. 61. Window Channels.....adhesive or no?
So still trying to find more info on the side glass window channels. There was no way of determining if they originally used any adhesive to hold
them in place.
Any of ya's replaced your side glass channels? did you use any adhesive or just slot the channels into place?
thanks.

61 4dr. 2 speed merc o matic.....trans. gasket replace
I will be replacing my transmission gasket. Because of previous issues with the little transmission sensor i have basically replaced all the fluid already. Won't be draining the stater?. After I clean filter and replace gasket, is there anything special i need to do, other than putting the fluid bac...

Re: 61 Comet 4dr. Front Vent Seal item code?
amazing how things work when you do it in the proper order. took off the vertical riveted seal, THEN put the flex rubber seal on, using some sil-glide lube and low and behold if that sucker didn't slide into place. Joe, I used a rivet peen along with an extra set of hands. BUT, am getting a Rivet cl...

Re: 61 Comet 4dr. Front Vent Seal item code?
Thanks for response Joe, but no, not that strip of seal. That part was actually easy to figure out, although challenging setting those tiny little rivets. My issue is the rubber seal that goes around the inside of the metal frame that holds the vent glass itself. The rubber seal has 2 sides and shap...

61 Comet 4dr. Front Vent Seal item code?
Awhile back, when disassembling the car, I had ordered a seal kit from Falcon parts.com. came with 2 rubber seals for the front vents. I just don't see the seals they sent as the right fit. The parts code they have on package is C0DB-64214448-PR. Is there somewhere out there that has the correct rub...

Re: 61 4dr. Underlayment prefrences
Still need some more advice on this. Originally on top of the pan the manufacturer sprayed or brushed some sort of black tar? maybe about 1/16 inch thick., the painted. On top of that was the fibrous jute fabric, then on top of that was the vinyl flooring. There was no carpet in this car, just a vin...

Re: 61 4dr. Fender bullseye rubber cushion
Thanks all for help and answers. I tried high density foam but it was too crushable. What I found that was just right, these very hard rubber hand sanding pads with the metal pins that hold the sand paper in place. cut it apart and fashioned two out of this. drilled hole it center and voila!! worked...

61 4dr. Front fender spacers.....needed?
When i took the front fenders off, there were these thick washers, later learned they are 'spacers?' Not sure what they are used for or still needed. When the car painter put the fenders back on, with just a few bolts to hold it place, everything seemed level on top. ie with the hood and wiper cowl ...
