Re: Hole in transmission hump?
Thanks for all the ideas, guys. Not sure of the answer but with my car I may not need that hole for anything.

Re: Generator Vs. Alternator ?
A generator produces DC voltage proportional to how fast it turns -- the faster it spins, the higher the voltage. An alternator produces more of an AC signal, so it's less noticeable how much the voltage changes with shaft speed. The down side of an alternator is that it needs a rectifier to make th...

Re: Hole in transmission hump?
Is it possible this hole is where wires for the neutral safety switch are supposed to go? I imagine those wires might be a bit beefy, and they would run to the starter solenoid inside the front right fender near the battery. Does anyone know for sure if that's the case? Any other ideas?

Re: Hole in transmission hump?
I also thought it might be the speedometer cable, but there's a different (smaller) hole near where your right heel rests below the gas pedal that I've been told is for the speedo cable. Was I misinformed about that?

I borrowed this pic from another user to show where the hole is that I'm asking about. (Thanks Baldy!)

Hole in transmission hump?
My '66 Cyclone GT came disassembled (no engine or tranny), and as I'm replacing rusted out areas of the floorboards and firewall I'm coming up with some questions. For example, there is a 1-inch diameter hole in the lower firewall, near the top driver's side of the transmission hump -- can somebody ...

What happened to Falcon Comet Interiors?
For budgeting purposes I've been trying to plan ahead for the interior restoration of my '66 Cyclone GT, and after seeing several recommendations on here I tried to contact Jake at Falcon/Comet Interiors (apparently also known as Original Falcon Interiors) to see if I could get a quote. Unfortunatel...

Re: Introduction
Jim, thank you again for the info. This is good stuff! Any idea where the “Interceptor” S-code engine gets the extra 20 hp over the Z-code (335 vs. 315 hp)?

Re: Introduction
Thanks again Jim, that body plate info makes sense. Do you know if the trim "H2 = White/Blue Vinyl" means the seats were vinyl, or does that mean it had a vinyl top? (It appears that this car had a vinyl top and I assume it was white.) I have to agree that the VIN info from the oldride.com web site ...

Re: Introduction
Thank you Jim but that page does not appear to cover the 1966 Comet models. None of the codes from my car make sense with the tables on that page. Is there another reliable source of reference? Thanks

Re: Introduction
Thanks, Mike. Speaking of Fairlane compatibility, do you know if floor pans are interchangeable between '66 Fairlanes and Comets? The floors on this one are worse than I thought.
