Introducing Betsy
This is Betsy, named after my dearly departed wife. She was the last woman to set behind the wheel. Married over 50 years. We dated in my 66 Comet Cyclone Gt which I bought new right after the Army. I bought Betsy 5 years ago as a finished build from a fine man Doug J. know on this forum as "vicegri...

Re: Shop with Comet Specialty!??
I'm in the same situation following an accident and damage to the driver side front. In the greater Austin area, I have found a couple of shops that do nice builds. Camaros out the kazoo, Chevelles, etc. but they are all backed up for months. I agree that finding a shop with first and second gen Mus...

Re: fender extension
I really appreciate the effort of vicegrip , also known as my friend Doug to help locate the fender extension. I purchased from Doug back in 2018 , the white 65 Comet Caliente he built several years back with the BBF 460 s-l500.jpg , C6, 9in rear, etc. He built a solid car which I have enjoyed and p...

Re: Ford 429/460 BB
You can do it, patience and careful measuring (engineering), but it makes a great big badass 65 comet when done right. There are alot of bb 460 blocks out there as they were put in a variety of Ford products, pickups, lincolns, etc. A good later model truck block and a 30 overbore is a start. Then o...

460 BBF in 65 Comet Caliente (brake vacuum)
I have a nice complete 65 which has been built as a restomod. Motor is fully built out, 600 plus hp. Built C6, stall converter, 9 in rear with 373 gearing. She runs strong. The build was tough as you would imagine. Shock tower removal, R&C coilover mustang 11 frontend. Subframe connectors, etc. Powe...

Re: Comets are on the rise.
Hey thanks folks. Mercury on in my dna, We must keep the image alive. After I was drafted the first new car I bought was a 66 Comet Cyclone GT. 390, 4speed, no ac, no power steering, etc. I loved it, but a drunk totaled it while parked in front of my house. Through the years, have had several muscle...

Comets are on the rise.
Hey folks, I have seen more muscle cars at our area car shows than any other year. Discounting the new cars (lots of late model Camaros and Stangs), but I think anyone who has a Comet gets extra attention. Not everyone wants a show car of course, I think most of us like the combination of local show...
