Re: Finally building my 64 Comet
Just my unasked for opinion but steelies in red to accent your stripe or satin black with poverty caps would look good on your car.

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet
When I painted the hood if my daughters Bronco I took the fuel filler door to my PPG paint vendor and he scanned the door for the mix recipe. He mixed me up a quart of omni and I took the hood to bare metal, primer, color. After a week you could not see a difference in the color of the car. --------...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Gonna shoot the belly after you get the rad mocked up? She looks good and ready 8) JT Yes I'm 95% done with the metal repair. I'll shoot the whole car inside and outside with epoxy primer and get the seam sealer on it. Then I'm going to paint the bottom of the car with machine grey for the buildout...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Ordered my radiator and electric fan shroud kit from my radiator guy. I am going with a Northern brand unit, American made and 100% heliarc welded, no epoxy. I laid out the cutout in the core support but I will wait until the unit gets here before doing any cutting. It will look a lot like tomb's ra...

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet
Nothing like TTD's. I have put them on every car I've owned except my Barracuda. It got 71 Mopar Rally wheels.
I look forward to the day that my car is far enough along that I can buy a set of TTD's for my Cyclone.

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
In the desert here it gets a lot of hot days and I have these cars heat up on me. With this one I am determined to have it run cool. With PS and AC and the 415 HP rating of the motor I know it will take something more to cool it. I am now looking at having the radiator shop build me a custom setup t...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Thanks Joe: The engine I removed is a 66 289 on indeterminate pedigree. I ordered the fully dressed 347 with 28 oz. balancer and 157 tooth flywheel. I ordered the one belt serpentine drive for it to save room. I am now trying to solve the cooling issue. I am looking at Northern aluminum radiators bu...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Salvaged the 4-speed hump doubler from the original floorpan and fit it up. I welded 1/4-20 hex nuts to the doubler where I wanted the hump to fasten. https://i.postimg.cc/pVK0S7vw/DSC01449.jpg Once this was done I prepped for plug welding the doubler to the floor under the car. I checked the locati...

I just read this entire thread. It was enjoyable for me to see the old school hot rodding. Congratulations on your times in the quarter.

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Spent the day repairing the trunk gasket channel. Welded all the holes in the firewall and core support. Buying parts and enjoying the process. Lots of issues to resolve but I do enjoy building this car.
