Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build

Wow, thanks to all for the great responses and input. My shifter is truly the re-release version. I thought it was strange that the mounting bracket was billet machined aluminum. I don't remember billet being a thing when I put my same Hurst shifter in my 55 Bel Aire coupe back in the day. I appreci...

https://i.postimg.cc/fWSgvhQw/DSC01601.jpg Nice snag, Doug! Much better assembly than the newer ones. Tighter clearances, not as sloppy. :D Joe Thanks Joe I was excited about it. I could have rebuilt the factory one that came in the car but the car really wanted this to help it be complete. Douglas

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build

Hello all again. I posted a request for help here finding a Hurst floorshift for my Cyclone using the stock BW T-10. Thanks to the folks here I was able to obtain the Hurst unit I wanted for my build. Following is a photo of the NOS still in factory packaging with intact paperwork shifter I bought. ...

Re: what did you do to your comet today?

Thanks a lot, I have the stock original complete but it is worn. If my brackets and rods would work with the Hurst shifter I wouldn't need the complete unit.

Re: what did you do to your comet today?

I took a load of brightwork to the chromer and picked some up. I gathered up my 4 core radios and I think I can come up with one good one by picking the best parts of the four. While picking up the materials for an oil change the counter guy put me on to a shop that works on them so I am working to ...

Re: Inside 1965 SS trim channels

Is this what your need? https://www.ebay.com/itm/133032674181 There is one per door, none in the rear. The original was stainless, same as used on a ‘64 Cyclone. No thanks for the tip but what I need are the SS channels that the two door panels are secured by at the bottom. The tops are good and I ...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build

Question for Ya'all. I am having the brightwork from my Cyclone refinished and rechromed. The taillight housings are coming up for their turn and I don't know how to remove the brass bulb socket from the housing before they go in the tanks. Have any of you guys replaced the sockets in the 65 taillig...

Inside 1965 SS trim channels

I am in need of the four lower SS door panel channels for my 65 Cyclone. If necessary I will buy a whole set.

Re: 65 Comet Auction

Hmmmmm, Nice from what I can see and pretty rare car too. Price will depend on the knowledge of the buyer. That car couldn't be replicated for under 35K in my opinion. The market is strong especially for convertibles. I'm guessing it will hammer at $21,500. Knowing what I know now if I was willing t...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build

Do you paint your color in your garage, and do you set up a temporary paint booth, or do you depend on the same minimal overspray technique? Jim Jim: I do not paint in my Garage. I paint the component parts color in my driveway. The last car I painted I painted the unibody, fenders, hood and trunk ...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build

I have a pretty good system for painting without a booth. I have a good compressor and HVLP gun and a lot of experience doing it. How do you prevent overspray on the driveway or other surfaces? I know you have better control with the HVLP gun, but there must be some overspray around the edges? :? J...
