Re: Building my 65 Comet

He likes the tunnel ram look as he found the Hot Wheels version of the Comet Gasser. Found this in a bin @ the pharmacy this morning. It was the first one I picked up @ $1.19. Crazy thing, there was a 'Mike's Transmissions' shop near me back in the 80s. The owner had a trailered '64 Cyclone drag ca...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)

The car started ok. High idle seemed ok to warm it up. After every stop and attempt to move out at slight to medium throttle it would stumble and stalled several times in the middle of intersections! Also at 45 MPH, there is noticeable miss in the engine! Just not smooth! Very NOT good. On a good n...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)

Chris, Have someone tap the gas pedal in the car while you check travel of the old bellcrank (mounted on the back of the intake manifold). I'm still running one on my engine and had to do some bending and tweaking to tighten it up. It's 60 years old and makes metal/metal contact. Just a free idea :i...

🤣🤣
Once upon a time, yeah
If things don't pick up, I may have to bid on this one.
Man, it's almost 2K miles taking the two-lane blacktop

I dig those matching wheels on the trailer, Fredo :D
Don't really care to pull single-axle anything down here. Roads are so bad it becomes an endurance challenge :?
Rather crash in an Econoline

Fun Auction

This should be fun to watch- https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1963-mercury-comet-10/ Talking to an old HS friend that's currently restoring a '63 single-axle Airstream. He drove his older brother's 1st gen Comet back in HS. This auction reminded me of him. Need to send him this link for a big grin ...

Re: Dan's 65 Cyclone project !

No, my car was an automatic. I've used a TKX previously; I'm hoping the forward shifter location will clear the tunnel support. Floor first, of course. Here's the last I installed; the square plate with the sticker is for the forward shifter location. Thanks for looking- Dan https://i.postimg.cc/0Q...

Re: Dan's 65 Cyclone project !

My plan is to run a TKX manual, so I'll have to pick one up fairly soon to verify shifter location - good thing is American Powertrain is right up the road! I ran a TKO500 in my 65 Falcon, but that needed extensive floor work. I'm running a TKX in my 53 Ch#vy truck - way smoother shifting than the ...

Re: Mecum Kissimmee Comets

Joe, It’s great to see you posting again! I hope you are on the mend and returning to normal activities soon. It’s been too quiet here without your input. Jim Coming around very slowly. Weak knees curbing my enthusiasm for driving the Comet. In the meantime, I'm trying to clean her up a bit when I'...

Re: Mecum Kissimmee Comets

It says sold? :? Jim It did not make reserve when it crossed the block, it went into “the bid goes on” where the high bidder or anyone else has the opportunity to bid in it. It sold for $22k which means someone stepped up with $5k more. Jim Was looking at this one a couple days ago. Maybe Hagerty w...

It feels good to have some extra power & to hear a good sounding V8 on a daily basis for a change, it just puts you in a different state of mind.
Hey, Johno!

My daily driver has plenty of pep but I hate the way it handles. Way too much bump steer.
Don't care for FWD at all! :?

Good to hear from you Joe, stronger every day, this is great! Prayers always, keeps me going as well. Progressed quickly first month out but very slow to nil now, Lee. May take a year or so to fully recover. Thanks for the intervention! Good to see you back on your thread again. :D Pushing t...
