Re: 1963 Comet Custom Build Thread

Looking good, JC! :D
What color are you going to paint the car?
I would like to paint my engine black w/ red valve covers like the original '63 if it ever comes back out.

DeoxIT

 Have any of you guys restored old electrical switches w/ DeoxIT? I've been using it for many years to bring back failed potentiometers in amplifiers. As soon as I get a lukewarm day, going to pull the original heater blower switch in the car and see if I can bring it back to life. Presuming I...

Re: Ford 'sisters'?

All you guys were cool before cool was cool! You had the forethought to buy, save and fix up a Mercury Comet! :D Man, your Falcon is bad to the bone  Never owned one, had a chance to pick up a '60 gasser roller years ago I passed on. Did buy a F-100 and a Fox body Mustang from the guy. Took a...

Re: Ford 'sisters'?

Too cool, Jim! 8) 8) I had a mid-'70s Custom E-150 like on the cover of the mag as well :D I picked it up in the mid-'80s and went straight for the sander because that scheme was so dated @ the time. The 351W was shot and I didn't feel like keeping it, so I sold it to a hippy after I painted it. Got...

Re: Ford 'sisters'?

I may have posted this before, but that's me working on my first Cyclone, circa 1971. I was almost as proud of the sideburns as I was my Cyclone.   https://cometcentral.com/photos/images/2022/01/22/7087790bf87d77d8ae698e38b7469898.jpg Jim You should do the 50 year challenge and do...

Re: Ford 'sisters'?

It was ocean turquoise with black interior. Same colors but mine wasn't nearly as nice. It was a rust bucket out of Port Neches, Tx. down on the Gulf Coast. The owner drove it up here to his cousin's body shop to have it restored but left it in a weed patch and forgot about it. It had 3.03 on the c...

Re: Ford 'sisters'?

Not a ford sister, but the real deal. This picture was taken in the Summer of 1969. That is my Dad holding me in front of his 65 Cylone. https://www.cometcentral.com/forum/download/file.php?id=3128 First one I've seen same color as the one I owned 8) Oxidize the paint, add surface rust and throw on...

Re: Ford 'sisters'?

A bit off-topic but Fords in the family.... Here's Pop's '57 Custom 300 when I was a kiddo playing in the pool down in Key West. https://i.postimg.cc/FRS5F68b/scan0006.jpg When my brother came along, he sold it and bought a new '62 Galaxie four-door w/ heater delete. Drove it 12 years and handed it ...

Pretty cool pics Joe!
Thanks brother! Wish I had pics of all of them, cool old Fords & Mercs.
If I found one that was affordable, I'd buy it. Many between '74-'98. Most at one time was four, IIRC.
Wasn't dealing, never made a dime. Just loved driving and working on them all. 8)

'64 Factory A/FX

Posted this one earlier but they finally listed a price after a year on the market.
Looks like they are ready to deal. Maybe Leno will buy it and shoot a video driving it through Burbank

Ford 'sisters'?

Sis drove down to visit today and brought me a lot of pictures from Mom's house she had been keeping. I've never been a camera guy but Mom loved to take pictures. She wasn't fond of my older vehicles, so there were only two of many in the batch. First is a '66 Mustang I bought in '81. Plain-Jane 289...
