Thanks Joe. Looks like 1/16" is it.
I'm not sure, as I bought it a few years ago.
Recommended by early Mustang restorer. Mustang just a glorified Falcon/ Comet.
You know FoMoCo business model back in the '60s....

Re: ‘64 Falcon Track Project

Hey Joe I think what killed these points is that the rubbing blocks are just nubs now. Not sure if it matters but I think the worn rubbing blocks caused them to jump around and bounce at high RPM. Joe The whole reason I jumped to Duraspark was to reduce points maintenance. As the block wears, ignit...

Re: 67 Caliente rear ride height

Very common problem w/ old leaf spring setup.
Also check condition of all bushings to make sure they aren't split or worn out. If you are fortunate, maybe you can get by with new ones.
Otherwise, probably a weak spring.

Re: ‘64 Falcon Track Project

Thanks Joe! Yeah I don’t know if I’ll be able to find another set. I guess I’ll worry about it in a few years haha! Don't know how many 20 year old sets of points I've set that still worked well when I use to run them. A little emory board and a piece of a matchbox and good to go. Got very partial ...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)

I look at the pictures of these cars in brochures and it looks like 2 inches of the top of the wheel is actually covered by the fender. I was watching old 'B' flick from the '60s one day after I got out of the hospital, recouping on the couch. Can't remember the name of the film. Had a baby blue '6...

Re: ‘64 Falcon Track Project

Ugh that would suck. The engine has maybe 2500 miles on it but practically all of it at high RPM. Do you think the springs could wear out that quickly? I don’t know. Thanks for the thoughts Joe! The GoPro video of the gauges is a great idea! Get a vacuum reading @ WOT too, if you can. That would ru...

Re: ‘64 Falcon Track Project

If not A/F or ignition related, may be valve spring fatigue?
All of those prolonged revs and harmonics...
IDK, just throwing mud on the wall.

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)

Hey, Chris!

I remember wrapping my bulbs in electrician tape to keep them installed tight enough to work consistently on the rusty Cyclone.
That was 35 years ago. If those sockets are original, you did well! :)

https://i.postimg.cc/T12k7jW3/hwy8.jpg Raced my '68 Mustang for a year back in the '70s across this stretch of bridge in a very rural area where I lived @ the time. Re: Got a New 65 Caliente

Very cool, Jimbo! 8) I was two '65 Comet guy for a summer around 30 years ago. Found a very clean one owner 202 w/ 200 cid and 3 on the tree. Only problem was driver side glass was broken from a lawn mowing accident. Found another and replaced it in short order. A friend talked me out of it after I ...
