Re: Crankcase oil leak

Are the rear oil galley & cam plugs nice and dry, Jim?

Re: Alternative heater controls?

Have you looked into the Mustang or Cougar console, Fred? It comes up to the dash.
I'm trying to remember heater controls. I think they are vacuum actuated. Been too long ago. :(

Re: 260 Shelby

I couldn't resist testing that theory  I could indeed print it from your link. No sweat, I'm keeping the economy rolling! The only questions revolve around the only piston available, Silvolite flat-top. Have to calculate CR w/ different heads and see if piston/valve clearance is adequate...

Re: New member

Hey Cynthia!

The 1st gen Comets are still quite affordable today, relative to the classic car market.
There are some nice restored examples on the web for sale. Check the Hagerty value guide to get a fair estimate on current value.

Re: 260 Shelby

Finally found it and ordered this morning :D I'm interested in a period correct 260 Cobra build for my car in the future. I'm running original T-10 & 8" differential now and don't plan on upgrading those or cutting on the car for more rubber to handle what I have now. Too clean to hack. https://i.po...

Re: 260 Shelby

These helped me on my 260 / 289 Shelby / Tiger mods... Thanks Bruce! Second link provides most of the items I was looking @ previously. If I can find the Shelby brochure, I'll share it here. Pretty sure they're one in the same. The Traction Master bolt-on bars are exactly what I planned to do for m...

Re: All Ford Swap Meet

When I was a teenager in the early 80s, my mom had a 64 289 auto AC in nearly perfect shape. It was just another $500 used car for poor people like us at the time. To this day I have no idea why neither I nor my older brother snagged that car when mom got rid of it. I bought my rusty Cyclone ...

Re: All Ford Swap Meet

Apparently most of the action takes place Fri night before it's open to the public. Sold all the stuff we had to other vendors that night and gave the space to another guy. Most trade shows operate that way. Twenty years ago I was hooked up w/ a vintage guitar dealer. Worked the same way. People wi...

260 Shelby

Does anyone have info on the Shelby kits available back in '63-'64 for the 260? There were multiple stage pieces sold over the counter to ramp the 260 up to 260hp. Pistons, headers, cam, carb, intake, valves, etc. Pretty sure most are same as the 289 pieces but would like to check the specs if anyon...

Re: '65 Front End Damage - Tips?

The hood hinge attachment points on the engine bay tore through the sheet metal, so I'll have to weld in some patches there. That area is a common problem on most '60s FoMoCo cars. The inner fender sheet metal tore a bit on my first '68 Mustang due to stiff hinges. It was only 10 years old @ the ti...

Re: Factory am/fm Radio

Not going off tangent but AM radio frequencies are still the most far-reaching land based means of communication today, besides ham radio. If satellite transmissions are interrupted, public communications are still widely available through AM radio waves, especially @ night. Still catch a little mar...

Re: '65 Cyclone auction

The missing rear panel Cyclone badge makes me think that panel is a replacement, which makes me wonder about the "never had any body damage" statement. :? I'm betting the fasteners were damaged when it was disassembled for restoration. Seller may still have it. If not, knock $600 off the sell price...

Looks really nice, but it's missing the Cyclone badge on the rear trim panel. :(
That would be very hard to locate.
Just noticed the split single exhaust, Jim. Looks like my ex's old '78 Poncho T/A. :?
