Re: Not Comet but cool yard art project.
in my 'neighborhood' there is a fine line between YARD ART and what american humorist Jean Shepard called "SLOB ART" ( like the purple mirror balls on podiums and peeing trolls on suburban lawns). . > this is my favorite in my neighborhood of 'yard art' , but it all depends on your perspective ... ....

Re: Front end brakes and suspension
did i miss something - the 4 holes are for using same LCA on R or L Driver or Passgr side to fit struts. . no '63-65 Fal/Com had the camber adjustment eccentric afaik . . I tried using the Maverick - adjustable camber setup but didn't work out - so far... . ( 61 Comet does finally have the 63/5 V8 s...

Re: Front end brakes and suspension
afaik - the UCA / LCA's should be original to the '63. the Maverick arms use a (better) alignment system with an eccentric cam washer/ bolt for camber adjustment on inner pivot of LCA. Probly need adapters for tie rod ends ( Mustang Steve ). . '71 Maverick spindles used on the '61 with 'Scarebird' ...

Re: 61 144cid. automatic Head Bolts torque
you should be 'good to go' without retorque. Depending on fastener / head bolt - torque rating usually is with lube on fastener or even specific lube (ARP) . OEM may require typical motor oil ?. . BTW : " I doubt that the 1961 torque procedure is different from the 1964 for the same engine. " . Smal...

Re: New build 62 Comet
... " you would need to anti up for a set a spindles & probably would want an 8'' rear so you have 5 lug front & back. then you need new wheels. " . BTW - early Falcon/Com/Stang 5 lug steering stuff including spindles getting very hard to find in usable shape. 70's Maverick/Comet may be reasonable o...

Re: New build 62 Comet
'62 should have 62-65 6 cyl front suspension.
.
there is some value in upgrading to '65 V8 front suspension components - Center link / tie rod ends are considerably heftier if needed for use.

Re: New build 62 Comet
Great to see another early Comet Six car getting put back together for driving into the future. The 2 speed 'slushomatic' is what gave the six cars their questionable reputation. '66 200 can accept many later improved trannys. The iconic 3 speed C4 is a reasonable option but if you want to go 3 peda...

Re: 61...144cid engine 'head' install questions
The machine shop did mill the head for CR calculating it would be good for the machine shop to provide milling info, measuring head chambers can be done also if at all concerned. basically modern head gaskets are thicker and can lower CR slightly. . ... measuring with Marvel Mystery adds nice minty...

Re: 61...144cid engine 'head' install questions
good idea to make pilot bolts to align head on install, even heavier with exh. mfld. . 'machine shop did a valve job? - did they mill head surface?. Amount if milled known, will help calculate engine compression ratio. . unless HiPo , clean original head bolts shouldn't be a problem if re-used (imho...

Re: 60's sounds
.. probably those you tubee etc videos emphasize and exaggerate the low sounds since they're typically listening outside and near up to the car. My family had a '60 wagon as a kid. Recent trip a few hundred miles in my '63 Falcon Wagon to the regionals with a friend had me recall the old car interio...

' For old times sake I am interested in the manifold below which seems to be well thought of and the price is right. " 'for old time sake' the '61 Comet uses an Ofenhauser 3 X 1 manifold and Holley 1904's on the 'old time' small block six. You can anticipate three times as much fun getting each car...
