I do have a spacer under the carb.

I have a brand new gauge in it and the car stays around 180-190 degrees. Coolant level is where it should be and radiator hoses are good. The engine wasn't hot but the engine bay was red hot.

Is it worth taking my Doug's headers of and wrapping them to help with exhaust heat in the engine bay?

Update- Gas tank started leaking so I replaced the gas tank and fuel filter. I took the car for a drive today and after about 10 mins of driving and I stop at a stop sign...it dies. I was there when the gaskets were put on and it was done correctly. I started it up today and it fired right off and ran good. There has been a bit of hesitation with the carb when I take off from a dead stop.I'm afraid the condenser might be causing some air flow issues.

Pop, the heads were removed. The coil along with distributor is brand new. The fan and shroud is from Derale made exactly for that radiator. Thermostat is also brand new and in correctly and new water pump. We put a serpentine system on the car. The condenser and all other ac parts/lines are all bra...

Pop, it was a driver when I brought it home and it ran fine. I live in Northeast Arkansas, about 15 mins from Jonesboro which is home to Arkansas State University.

I don't smell coolant. I also have a fuel regulator on it that is set at 5 psi with a new Edelbrock electric fuel pump. Joe, I do have a spacer on it and I'm pretty sure it is set at 14 degrees. I didn't do the engine work, a buddy of mine did.
