Re: Turn back the calendar to 1969
Those are great pics of a really cool car! My clock only turns back to 1970 when I bought my first Cyclone. The pics aren't as good as yours, and are from 1973, but she was my pride and joy. :D 8) Like you, I had one of those expensive paint jobs, too. Paid a friend's brother $125 to paint her. Fou...

Re: Turn back the calendar to 1969
The black hood treatment was the hot ticket in 1969, the new Mach 1 had it so I thought it was cool. The hood scoop was an OEM part from a ‘69 Cyclone CJ.
I couldn’t afford mag wheels after the expensive paint job!

Turn back the calendar to 1969
I just came across these pictures of my Cyclone from 1969. I had owned the car for just about a year when these were taken. I had just had the car repainted and was not finished installing all the trim, note rear wheel well trim and rocker trim are missing. The color was Ford bright red with gold me...

Re: New ‘64 Cyclone owner
There are a couple of videos on “boob tube” that owners or interviewers claim their ‘64 Comet (Cyclone) are HiPo cars. The problem is they read some article that claims the cars were real and all of a sudden it is gospel. Makes me wonder how many of them were even around in ‘64 and how many of them ...

Re: ‘64 A/FX Comet @Mecum
Only thing ,,,I'd have to level up those head light intake grills,, :? killing me :x They did fix the intake grills !! Car was outstanding!! Only thing I found that wasn't outstanding was the headliner had a little bit of a stain on the lower pass rear sail. And the insert that ran down the side be...

Re: 63 1/2 Comet sold today.
I just wish there was a way to turn down the volume of the auctioneer,,,,, or turn up the mics of the hosts, I cant understand him anyway & sometimes he drowns out what the hosts are saying. I cannot watch/listen to a Mecum auction, ( or BJ) the hosts constant drivel is annoying to me. I follow the...

Sold 1/11/23 Mecum, Florida for $33k https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0123-545519/1963-mercury-comet-s-convertible/ Beautiful car, Jim. Wonder what treatment the engine has? That would really be cool if the 260 had a full Shelby upgrade. Joe Joe, The pictures on the web site show Cobra valve covers, al...

Re: Tail Light Panel Restoration
Has anyone restored the black-out paint on '63 or '64 tail light panels? Have recently seen a couple very nice restorations that were very clean. Racking my brain trying to determine how it's done well. Thought about masking those 5 million chromed raised 'bumps' but don't want to take X-Acto knife...

Re: 1964 Caliente got wrecked today
Update 6 months later: I have a fair insurance settlement. The car is salvageable and tear down is complete. I got a donor chassis from down south with mostly good panels and parts. What’s missing: the hood on the donor car turned out to have hidden rust and bondo. So I still need a good hood witho...
