Re: How many different OHV V8s has Ford made?
The MEL series of big block FoMoCo engines were kind of obscure. Used only in select Mercury’s, Lincoln’s, and all Edsel’s.

Re: ‘64 Cyclone at Kissimmee
Yes but Jim, you built yours. How much would it cost to have that one built? Even a 66-7 Mustang where everything is available and doesn't need to be 1)found, and 2) restored is way more. I was referring to what I believe these cars are worth which not necessarily what the owner has invested. The a...

Re: ‘64 Cyclone at Kissimmee
As the owner of a ‘64 Cyclone for almost 57 years and as much as I would want the value of ‘64 Cyclones to be in this neighborhood, in reality I can’t agree that they are worth that kind of money. This looked like a very well done example, the trim looked almost perfect, the paint and details were w...

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
Keep in mind that if you are dealing with a pre 1965 289 that the bell housing bolt pattern is not compatible with 1965 or later engines. ( small block, or 351 C)
If you have a 6 bolt trans or bell housing you will have no issues.

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build
Loving your work Lou! Especially the brake lines. I'm collecting parts to swap to dual master at present, but scared of bening/flaring etc... It might be worth your time to use NiCopp brake tubing. It bends and flares very easily. I use it exclusively for brake and fuel lines. It is DOT approved. I...

Re: My Mercury Comet from Spain (of North Caroline)
Hello everyone, my name is Deiv and I am writing to you from Spain. First of all, I want to apologize because I am writing with the translator, perhaps there are poorly translated words. I have been reading you for a long time, my enthusiasm for the Mercury Comet led me last year to buy a unit in N...

‘64 Cyclone at Kissimmee
This looks like a decent restoration. Sits about 4” too high in the rear and the door panels are not ‘64 Cyclone. (No chrome trim on the originals and the pleats ran the height of the panel)

Re: Wazza's 64 Hardtop - Aus
Jim I'm in the middle of doing my hoses & used some 90 degree elbows ,,,, didn't you post up some new type hose clamps ( or new to me at least), Maybe heat shrink ones or something? Wazza here is an upgrade to the plenum I picked up somewhere , I cut another 1'' hole in the end of it to send more h...

Re: brakes
I converted my Comet to a four speed back in 1969, it was originally a column shifted automatic. I used all the parts from a donor ‘64 Falcon to do the swap, when I converted to the pedal actuated switch it mounted without issue. I remember that the wires for the reverse lights originally went to th...

Re: Wazza's 64 Hardtop - Aus
Now would be a good time to extend the heater core tubes a few inches so they terminate inside the engine compartment. This way the heater hoses do not go through the fire wall and the clamps are easy to access. I did that modification to mine in the early ‘70’s, made it so much nicer to work on. Du...

Re: brakes
Thanks for the link Jim, think I'll add that to this winter's list. This is a very common switch used in many years and models of FoMoCo products. I used to have a 2004 Lincoln Aviator, the shift lever interlock was controlled by the brake light switch. The factory switch was the plunger type that ...

Re: brakes
Plumbing your system as shown in Johno’s pictures is the way to go. I would agree that using a mechanical pedal mounted brake light switch is preferred over the in line pressure switch. This switch will mount directly to your existing pedal with no modification, it is the only style of switch I will...
