Re: 260 2x4

The right hand piece is from Summit they call it a “throttle linkage quick disconnect”. The left hand piece is about 4” of 1/2” round aluminum. I shaped it with a drill press and a WWII era milling machine I found for $250. But could also be done with a drill press and hacksaw and files. Happy to pr...

Re: 347 Keeps Dying Randomly

Happened me long time ago. Was a clogged fuel filter near the carburetor.

260 2x4

Before getting started on the 3x2 project I got a couple of old Carter AFBs model 3826. They are from a 1965/66 Buick Special with the 300ci V8. Frequently referenced as 400 cfm, the smallest AFB. Then I got an Edelbrock F28 manifold to go with them. Now I’m working on the 3x2 setup but I wanted to ...

Re: Dash Speaker Holder

I put an aftermarket speaker in place using one of the speaker screw holes and one of the defrost duct clip holes. Fit fine, no drilling or cutting. The duct can’t go anywhere after the grill is on.

Re: 260 Tripower

I’ve got a lot of carburetor parts cleaning to do. Last time was decades ago sitting on a bucket in the driveway with a pan of gasoline and some brushes and scrapers. Things have come a long way. I got an ultrasound cleaner and some Simple Green. Does a sparkling clean job quickly with no effort at ...

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet

Mine is the stock T-10 and shifter. Agree it is too far forward. I relocated the seat back for legroom (6’4”) which made it worse. Haven’t thought of a fix yet.

Yep I found that when I did a search for 3x2 setups on the board. That fellow would tackle anything! Hats off.

Re: 260 Tripower

Thanks folks for comments. The tripower project is coming along but a lot of details still to be sorted out. Yesterday I modified the Holley 3485 two barrel (1965 Comet) to be the middle carburetor. It has the same 1” venturi and 1-7/16” throttle bore as the original 260 tripower carbs (2867/8). The...

Re: 260 Tripower

Setup instructions for the small block 3x2 are not in any Ford manual because it was sold over the counter. But I’ve seen several references that the big block 3x2 instructions can be used. So I found an old manual with detailed instructions for the 406 tripower. The carbs and the linkage are mechan...

Mine came with these molded ABS trunk panels. Have looked around online cannot figure where they came from. Storage space behind.

Re: 260 Tripower

I found reproduction small block Ford tripower linkage at Melvins and Carls Ford. This is from Melvins. Saves a lot of fiddly fabrication. The two end carbs are original 260 tripower so fit was easy. The middle is not original. I got three cheap carbs off eBay to get the different parts I needed. Ev...

Re: 260 Tripower

Made an old school fuel log from 1” aluminum hex bar. Been wanting a good reason to do that for a long time.
