Re: 4 ways switch installation

I see no one has mentioned Ron Francis. It is a big operation, as far as I can tell. Not cheap, but they go on and on about guaranteeing success, tons of support, and have had lots of positive reviews. Here's a link: https://www.ronfrancis.com/

Re: What were they thinking ???

Look at the under hood photos...does this thing have brakes? I hope there's a stiffener under that engine.

Hmmm...they should get at least $25 for it at the auction. Maybe.

Re: Too Rich For Me

Rootsy: Screw-in. Messing with main jets is new ground for me, but since the one in it is a size leaner than stock, I can't see it as the source for such a wildly low A/F ratio. BTW, thinking about your deeper-than-stock tank you showed me, I checked that fuel sending unit that had too much travel f...

Too Rich For Me

My 200-6 started running rough; wouldn't idle at all. Checking it out, all six plugs (pretty new; 5 months, less than 2,000 miles) were completely fouled black. Put another new set on (NGK WR5) and engine started running great again. Another clue is I've been getting really crappy MPG, <10 MPG. Not ...

Re: 200 Six Throttle Return Spring

I was hoping someone here had come up with a solution better than what I found on my Comet. Not getting any response, I did some more searching. The most annoying part of the search is you can't find it with "return"; instead, it's "retracting". :x So...I found a drawing in the 1964 Falcon/Comet ser...

200 Six Throttle Return Spring

Searching I found lots of 200-6 throttle return spring configurations, but none like mine. My engine has the "throttle stabilizer" (I think it's called. Does anyone know FOR SURE what the throttle return is supposed to be here? Surely it's not supposed to be a spring with wire extensions stuck to ea...

Re: Carburetor replacement

I bought a remanufactured one off eBay. So far it is running great on my '64 200-6 Comet. Surprisingly, in a good way, if they have several carburetors ready of a particular type, the one in the picture is the one you get. I asked them a question about the carburetor, and they said 'Sorry, it's sold...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build

I should have thought of that. I'm running up to O'Reily in a few to get longer studs. Don't know the quality, but looks like the extra 3/8" inch of the Cometic ones will give me enough stud. Are you installing the studs with LocTite blue? On one of mine the stud came out rather than the nut coming ...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build

Did you use all-thread to make studs long enough with that phenolic spacer? I'm putting one in to lower the carburetor heat-soak temperature because I'm getting hard re-start issues after she gets warmed up. On FordSix a member also ran his fuel line through an insulation tube for the same reason. G...

Re: 1965 Black Two-door Caliente

Well, I'm spending all my time working on my own '64 Comet. I figured this would appeal to one of us that collects them or needs one to work on. I'd be happy to go look at it with you, Rootsy, but if neither of us is in the market then... Who are we shopping for?

Re: Spinning Stud on Front Shock Brace

Thanks a ton for all your very quick help, especially considering the holiday! My shock replacement work is complete. I followed Joe's idea of using a regular carriage bolt. The only thing now is one of the three shock brace fasteners is 5/16 Coarse instead of 5/16 Fine. Hey, middle of the night you...

Re: Spinning Stud on Front Shock Brace

I GOT IT OFF! :D After all that PB Blaster and time eating supper (wife made really good cheeseburgers :D ), I pried up on the brace REALLY hard and the nut started turning on the stud. Now I see the slots where the stud heads slip in, obviating the need to remove the coil spring. The edges of the s...

Re: Spinning Stud on Front Shock Brace

Joe Travers: Did you have to pull the coil spring out to get carriage bolts in? PoBoy: That many? And I thought it was rough that I have one that spins. I'm thinking of cutting a slot in the stud and trying to hold it from turning with a big screwdriver. I hope I can figure out a way to get ...

Spinning Stud on Front Shock Brace

Changing front shocks. Got all six shock brace nuts off except ONE. The stud spins. I was using a wrench (not an impact driver). Soaking with PB Blaster for now, but what good that will do I don't know. Anyone else have this bite them? Any tips to keep that stud from turning? Prying up on it didn't ...
